Keogh said all squads in the A-League looked good on paper and was not making any excuses for inconsistent performances by the Glory this season.

The Irishman currently leads the goal tally equal with Melbourne City’s Bruno Fornaroli with seven goals in nine games.

Coach Kenny Lowe said after the recent 1-1 draw to Melbourne Victory that Keogh did not receive enough credit for his efforts, but the 30-year-old was unbothered by the lack of recognition.

“I’ve been doing extras (in training), trying to better myself every day so I’m happy to be doing something like scoring a few goals, but getting more points on the board would be better,” Keogh told FourFourTwo.

“I’m generally happy, I’ve missed a few chances and a penalty (v Wellington)… I’m happy with what I’ve returned.

“There’s scrutiny on every club, I’m sure there’s scrutiny on us, people just won’t see it as much and I’m not bothered by it anyway.

“People can talk about what they want, but come the end of the season, the only people that get talked about are the ones who performed the best and that’s what I’ll be aiming for.

“Only thing on my mind is the next game and trying to play as well as I can and help the team.”

While the Glory’s only shot on target against Victory resulted in Keogh’s goal, he said the general play was indicative of their capabilities for success.

The Glory play Newcastle Jets at home on Saturday which have seven players out injured.

They welcome back Rhys Williams from suspension but still miss key winger Diego Castro (hamstring) and Socceroo Josh Risdon (quad).

Keogh believed the omissions from each squad was not an excuse for either team as they chase a top six finish.

“There’s no complacency for us, it’s the same game we play regardless of who we have in,” he said.

“The Jets have players to come in and replace them and just like us we have a lot of injuries at the moment as well and a sign of a good team shows whether they can cover for their injuries.”

Keogh said forgotten Socceroo Adam Taggart could add the x-factor after overcoming a frustrating calf injury this season.

“It’s been stop-start for him (Taggart) but he’s a player that’s just going to add quality to our squad,” Keogh said.

“He can get a good run of games, hopefully not get any more knocks and to start getting some consistency to his game as well.”
