BRISBANE Roar have the least goals of any A-League side, but a day out from their clash with Melbourne Heart, a self-assured Ange Postecoglou promised everything was under control and the scoresheets weren't telling the whole story.
Apart from a second-half fade against the Melbourne Victory and a poor start against Adelaide United last weekend, the Roar have been able to impose a fast-paced, possession orientated style of play on their opponents.
Brisbane's short-range and highly mobile playing style saw them lead the league in passing efficiency and total passes at the conclusion of Round 7.
More surprisingly, however, the Roar also lead the competition in shot accuracy and their total of 38 shots on goal is only one less than the category-topping Victory.
And so while the Roar have lacked the killer touch, Postecoglou has more than enough evidence to support his belief that a breakthrough haul is on the way.
"I'm happy with the progression of the team, every week we're facing new challenges," Postecoglou said.
"I'm not too concerned about it. If we weren't creating chances and playing a defensive style I'd say we have to address it.
"(But) We're getting into forward areas really well, we're shooting.
"There's a misconception that we don't take shots on goal, but the fact that we have a lot of shots on target shows you we go pretty close.
"That's why I'm not overly concerned, the style of game we're playing will produce goals."
Postecoglou's confidence in the side's ability to open the goal-scoring floodgates was more than matched by skipper Matt McKay who said the time had come to start winning consistently.
"The forwards are working very hard. We'll continue with that effort and the goals will come," he said.
"We've gelled now, so the proof is in the results from now on.
"We've got not excuses, every week we should be getting three points - we've got that kind of philosophy now."
Undefeated at home this season, the Roar will tackle the Heart without the services of Costa Rican Jean Carlos Solorzano who Postecoglou says hasn't fully recovered since playing through a quad niggle in Brisbane's 1-1 draw with Adelaide last weekend.
With a natural replacement in Kiwi live-wire Kosta Barbarouses and an eye towards their hectic upcoming commitments, Postecoglou says it was the sensible option to add Solorzano to an injury list that already features will join Ivan Franjic (quad) and Luke Bratten (illness).
