Roar didn't hit their straps during the contest, but Kosta Barbarouses' first-half strike was enough to win them the contest.

"There were some positive things," Postecoglou told FoxSports after the game.

"I don't think we played as well as we have this year but some positives signs, we kept a clean sheet, worked hard defensively and scored a good goal."

He added: "It was a funny one this one, knowing our record here and obviously we've been on a good run and what happened to see Sydney last week, so we were anxious about this would pan out."

The Sky Blues employed defensive tactics in the first-half but fought back into the game in the second stanza forcing Brisbane to grind out the result and Postecoglou was pleased with his side's ability to do that.

"For us it was probably the first time this year we tried to play for a result," he said.

"We spoke about it at half-time that we want to be a team that can grind out results if we need to and we did."

The Roar coach also revealed positive news about the fitness of his squad, with the A-League finals in the back of his mind.

"Massimo Murdocca and Shane Stefanutto are jumping out of their skin, they were really close this week so they're available next week," he said.

"All of a sudden we've got some real competition for places."

Brisbane's next match is away to North Queensland Fury on Saturday.
