BRISBANE Roar coach Ange Postecoglou says he can't believe his side still can't attract bigger crowds after 11,762 fans turned out to see the champions smash Adelaide United 7-1 at Suncorp Stadium on Friday.
The result stretched Brisbane's unbeaten run to 32 matches, while also reinforcing their undoubted status as red-hot title favourites.
However, the performance was scintillating as the Roar responded after conceding an early goal, to hit back with five strikes before the break along with some stunning football.
“This team deserves more people to come and see them, I still can’t believe people don’t want to come have a look,” Postecoglou said.
“I keep mentioning about those thousands that left before the grand final finished missed out on one of the greatest finishes, well I reckon there’ll be 10 or 20,000 of our supporters that will be regretting the fact they weren’t there on the night we won 7-1.
“This team will get better and there are exciting times ahead, we play good football and we’re entertaining and people won’t be disappointed.
“Having said that, the hardcore that are here are fantastic – they really make it a fantastic atmosphere and I’m full of admiration for the ones that turn up.”
Postecoglou added he was full of admiration for his players who produced the "complete performance".
"We hadn't conceded yet and people were saying that was the best way to hurt us ... the players' response to that (was great)," he said. "I've just got so much admiration for this group of players.
"It's easy for me to say, but these guys, week in, week out, just come in work hard at training, never have an off day on game day, they're always doing the right thing in terms of our structure, they're disciplined."
"You've got to admire that and I do, even as coach, the fact that this group of players just does not have an off day and doesn't want to. Tonight was the complete performance. We didn't beat just anybody; they're a good side, they just met on a good night."
Meanwhile, Adelaide boss Rini Coolen bemoaned a disappointing performance from his side.
“The first 15 minutes was positive, we had our game plan and scored the first goal and created some opportunities to maybe score a second one,” Coolen said.
“But then we didn’t solve the problem on the left hand side with (Thomas) Broich, which we talked about, they gave us problems and within 15 minutes they scored five goals.
"So that’s not only not finding a solution in a tactical way but also very poor defending. I don’t directly have the solutions now but we have to do something, that’s for sure.”
“We selected a lot of good football players which can bring us to another level but we’re far away from the level from last season so we have to change some things.
"That’s my job so we’ll work on it from tomorrow, but you have to keep supporting your players and your squad.”
