Ange Postecoglou is set to quit as Socceroos coach in November, even if Australia makes the World Cup.
The Herald Sun reports Postecoglou would have walked away last month had the Socceroos automatically qualified for Russia 2018.
The relentless attacks from critics has reportedly led Postecoglou to believe he is being undermined.
The 52-year-old has been hammered for his attacking structures leading to an influx of criticism.
Postecoglou gave no inkling of his imminent exit in the press conference following Australia’s 2-1 win over Syria on Tuesday night.
