Ahead of Brisbane's Saturday afternoon clash with Newcastle, the Roar had all hands on deck, with midfielders Mitch Nichols (groin) and Massimo Murdocca (shoulder) training strongly in the wake of niggling injuries and Henrique looking lively after a two-week suspension.

Luke Brattan (knee) and Rocky Visconte (ankle) remain on the mend, but the injuries sustained in last weekend's 1-1 draw with Adelaide have both been declared less serious than originally thought.

With his side still in contention for the premiership and needing to avenge a first-up loss in the AFC Champions League when they travel to Beijing midweek, Ange Postecoglou was feeling encouraged by his healthy roster.

"Apart from Rocky Visconte and (Brattan) who aren't too bad, (our stocks are) good," said Postecoglou.

"Particularly with the travel-factor, it'd be absolutely crazy for us to try to run with the same team all the way through. We'll make some changes along the way and hopefully each game have 11 fresh guys ready to go."

Postecoglou also foreshadowed a return to live action for talented young backs Matt Jurman and Jack Hingert.

"Jack (Hingert) and Matt Jurman are ready to go. They're well credentialed A-League players and from our point of view it's good to be able to use this extra depth we have in the right areas," he said.

"Jack's been smashing the door down to get a run and Matty Jurman as well, so I think we'll give them a run at some point."

Central Coast's floundering finish to the season has put Brisbane within striking distance of defending their 2010-11 minor premiership, with the margin between the two having shrunk to just two points with two rounds remaining.

But while the Mariners have failed to clinch the silverware, the Roar have missed opportunities of their own, failing to convert opportunities in back to back draws with Melbourne Heart and Adelaide.

But Postecoglou insisted the spate of missed chances were no cause for concern.

"I never lose too much sleep over missed chances, (but) I know other people do," he said.

"I often get (criticism), even from our supporters, that we should shoot more and that we pass it around too much, but the last two years we've been the highest scoring team in the league by a fair bit and I think that shows we're an attacking side and we make the right opportunities.

"We certainly created the right opportunities last week and if we do it this week I'm sure we'll take them."
