BRISBANE Roar coach Ange Postecoglou said his league leading side were 'close to awful' in Saturday's surprise 1-1 draw with struggling North Queensland Fury at Suncorp Stadium.
North Queensland took an early lead through Gareth Edds and sat on their advantage up until the 85th minute when Ivan Franjic levelled for the Roar.
"Full credit to them, they certainly deserved the draw at least," Postecoglou said. "We weren't good tonight. We were close to awful.
"When you play a team like the Fury who set up that way, you've got to be really sharp and we were a bit flat tonight.
"Them getting the goal didn't help our cause, but full credit to the Fury they worked well and made it hard for us."
Postecoglou continued: "We've still got some work to do. Again, they found the energy to score. I don't know where they found it.
"It's a major plus for the club and where we're at. I think it'll hold us in good stead come business end.
"For us tonight we were just not on the ball right from the start."
Roar goalscoring hero Franjic said he was relieved to see Brisbane escape with a point but added the team just need to move on ahead of the midweek clash with Perth Glory.
"Fury played well, we gave them an early goal and then they sat behind the ball. In the end it was good to get a draw and we move on," he said.
"There's no fatigue. No excuses. Come on Wednesday we'll be fresh as can be."
Fury goalscorer Edds called on his side, who move out of bottom spot and above Sydney thanks to the point, to continue playing in such a manner.
"We played really well today, we've got to keep that going now," he said.
"We've got to take that into our next game and get ourselves off the bottom of the table.
"None of us are happy we're at the bottom and our attitude is to get up there and push other teams."
Fury's next match is at home to Perth Glory on Sunday week.
