Last week, the FC Groningen starlet was called into Bosnia and Herzegovina’s squad for an UEFA Under-21’s Championship qualifier against Switzerland on June 13, despite earning a senior Australia call-up too.

Postecoglou will confirm at 10.45am (AEST) on Wednesday in Adelaide which seven players from his provisional 30-man squad named have missed out for the Confederations Cup along with the upcoming Saudi Arabia and Brazil matches.

Hrustic, 20, is one of six uncapped players in the squad who appear frontrunners to miss out but his international future has created a dilemma for Postecoglou.

The Melbourne-born midfielder is eligible to play for Bosnia and Herzegovina as his father was born there and while there has been interest in him, he is yet to represent the country at under-age level.

However, if Hrustic misses the final Socceroos cut, he may be tempted to be drafted into the Bosnian set-up for the qualifier, which coincides with Australia’s friendly with Brazil.

Hrustic made seven appearances for Groningen in the Dutch Eredivisie late this season, scoring one goal.

The youngster's international future will only be confirmed when he plays a competitive senior international match, such as a World Cup qualifier or Confederations Cup match.

Meanwhile, another uncapped Australian, Jimmy Jeggo has been given the all-clear after suffering a cheek injury playing for Sturm Graz on Sunday, forcing him off at half-time.

It remains to be seen if Jeggo, 25, will make the final cut, having reportedly been close to his Australia debut prior to the last camp before suffering a glute injury.

Danny Vukovic, Rhyan Grant, Dylan McGowan and Riley McGree are the other uncapped players in the Socceroos’ provisional squad.

Striker Tomi Juric is in form after three goals in three games with Luzern in Switzerland, with Postecoglou previously non-committal on fellow forward Jamie Maclaren’s inclusion.

Aaron Mooy, Mitchell Langerak and Tom Rogic will all be on a high after club success with Huddersfield, VfB Stuttgart and Celtic respectively over the past 10 days.

Postecoglou’s biggest headache may be in defence with first-choice central defender Matt Spiranovic (quad) injured, while Trent Sainsbury is short on game-time despite debuting for Internazionale on Sunday.

Bailey Wright, Milos Degenek, Dylan and Ryan McGowan are Australia’s other central defensive options.

The bulk of the squad will begin assembling in Adelaide late this week, but Juric, Aziz Behich and Alex Gersbach will arrive later as all have club games over the weekend.
