The Brazilian watched on with satisfaction as first half goals from Ahmed Al Mousa and Abdulrahman Al Qahtani coupled with a second half brace from Taisir Al Jassim meant the Saudis finished on top of Group D.

"I'm pleased with the strong display and the group effort that we had today," said Anjos.

"Every player had a good game including Taisir (Al Jassim) and Saud Khariri who was instrumental in midfield.

"Our central defenders Osama Hawsawi and Walid Abdrabh were impressive as well.

"I have to thank them for their efforts as they haven't received any yellow cards so far and they had to face three different tactics in three matches."

The Saudis were never really threatened after overcoming an early scare when Ismail Abdullatif shot wide when well placed.

"The first goal was very important for us while the second was mentally crucial for the players," he added.

"The second goal came at the end of the first half and it had a positive affect on the players."

Bahrain coach Milan Macala rued his side's preparations for the tournament.

"Bahrain don't have many professional players while Saudi Arabia's national team is formed from players who play with Saudi clubs," Macala said.

"They (Saudi Arabia) had serious preparation while we had only days before the competition.

"Despite us having a powerful start to the game, the Saudis were the better side and they had the upper hand in everything."
