The champions suffered their second consecutive 1-0 defeat at Suncorp Stadium, with ex-Roar attacker Dario Vidosic scoring the game's only goal in the second minute. Brisbane tried to respond but failed in attack.

“We created enough chances against a team that defended desperately,” Vidosic said.

“We got around them, we got some very good opportunities and any other day we could have scored a couple of goals and that would have been enough.”

Meanwhile, Adelaide coach John Kosmina was full of praise for Brisbane as well as his own goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic.

“We’ll take the three points. Brisbane did exceptionally well but I think we also defended exceptionally well,” Kosmina said.

“I think we turned the ball over too much and I’m not too sure why, we got a bit rattled. Brisbane are the sort of side that can rattle you because of the pressure they apply.

“When we did keep the ball we looked alright, when we didn’t we made opportunities for Brisbane, but having said that we defended well and Eugene Galekovic was outstanding again.”

“Eugene is great in the shot stopping category, he dealt with a lot of difficult balls in the air as well so credit to him, he’s done a great job for us and earned us three points.”

Next up for Brisbane is a trip to Melbourne Heart on Friday night, while league leaders Adelaide are at home to last season's other grand finalists Perth Glory.
