Marquinhos put the visitors ahead with only three minutes gone as the Brazilian forward beautifully curled in a shot from outside the box.

Kashima's teenage forward Yuya Osako then extended their lead in the 17th minute when he cut into the box from the left, beat two defenders and fired past Tokyo goalkeeper Shuichi Gonda.

Tokyo halved the deficit in the 41st minute when forward Shingo Akamine headed home Naoyuki Hanyu's cross from close range.

Omiya Arijda overcame Asian champions Gamba Osaka 3-2 to pick up their first home win of the season.

The hosts went in front after 23 minutes when Masahiko Ichikawa latched on to Yoshiyuki Kobayashi's through ball in the box but was brought down by Gamba defender Satoshi Yamaguchi.

Croatian defender Neretlijak Mato made no mistake with the spot-kick.

Naoki Ishihara then made it 2-0 in the 35th minute when he applied the finishing touch to Kobayashi's cross at the far post.

Gamba manager Akira Nishino made a double substitution at half-time, introducing pacy forward Hayato Sasaki and defender Takumi Shimohira and Gamba got themselves back into the game in the 48th minute when South Korean forward Cho Jae-jin outjumped his marker to head home Michihiro Yasuda's cross.

But Omiya scored a third in the 57th minute when Ishihara fed Denis Marques from a corner and the Brazilian midfielder easily beat Gamba goalkeeper Yosuke Fujigaya.

Cho hit the post with eight minutes to go before Gamba netted a second in stoppage-time when Leandro headed in Sasaki's corner from a tight angle.

"We started too slowly and couldn't move the ball around as much as I wanted," Gamba boss Nishino lamented.

"We played better in the second half, there was better movement in midfield. That is what we needed in the first half."

Elsewhere, Urawa Reds won 1-0 at Nagoya Grampus thanks to substitute Genki Haraguchi's goal.

The 17-year-old came off the bench in the 23rd minute to replace the injured Tatsuya Tanaka and scored the first goal of his professional career shortly before the break when he found the back of the net with a fine right-foot strike from the edge of the box.

Finally, Shimizu S-Pulse beat Kawasaki Frontale 1-0 with Japan forward Shinji Okazaki scoring the only goal of the game for the hosts.
