Argentina, Colombia and Uruguay have unveiled their 2019 Copa América home kits in anticipation of the upcoming international continental tournament taking place in June and July later this year.

Argentina will be keeping with the traditional white and light-blue stripes which are synonymous with Argentinian football, adidas have unsurprisingly put their own little spin on the classic design.

 

In the easily recognisable colour-scheme, this year’s vertical stripes are composed of a pattern of horizontal lines much like soundwaves, giving the kit a rather contemporary feel about it.

Compared to Colombia’s World Cup kits, adidas have toned down the colour and stepped up the pretty intense pattern-work, producing a slightly more subtle yellow effort which goes heavily on the horizontal navy-blue lines which vary in thickness to form abstract triangular patterns, of sorts.

Finally, the Puma-manufactured Uruguay home and away kits are probably the least exciting of the bunch, but still form a pretty aesthetically-pleasing look for La Celeste.

The home jersey is, as Uruguay’s nickname suggests, simply sky-blue, with a thick, white strip running over the tops of the shoulders, whilst the away kit is a perfect inverse of this colour-combination.

Officially titled the ‘CONMEBOL Copa América’ or the ‘CONMEBOL America Cup’, this particular international tournament is played amongst teams competing in the South American footballing confederation, CONMEBOL.

Additionally, two teams from other confederations are extended official invitations to participate in the event, almost as ‘wildcard’ teams.

This year, it will be Australia’s Asian Football Confederation rivals Japan and 2022 World Cup hosts Qatar who will travel to Brazil for the South American tournament.

Chile are the current defending champions, having won the last two tournaments in 2015 and 2016.
