FTBL understands midfielder Escudero, 31, who joined Brazilian giant Vasco Gama in 2017, is seeking a spot with an Australian club.

The Rosario-born playmaker started his career with local club Velez Sarsfield in 2005. He has represented his country at both Under-20 and Under-23 level.

After 18 goals in 84 appearances with Velez Sarsfield, Escudero was sold to La Liga side Villarreal in 2008 for $17 million.

But the left midfielder was loaned out to Valladolid and then signed for Boca Juniors in 2010.

After loan spells with Gremio, Atletico Mineiro and Vitoria, he signed permanently for Vitoria in 2014. Escudero bagged 11 goals in 37 matches before he joined Mexican outfit Puebla.

He had one season in Liga MX, notching three goals in 27 games, before shifting to Vasco Gama last year. The Brazilian side are battling financial problems and have been forced to sell several of their players.

The creative midfielder managed just seven matches for Vascao Gama last season.

It is believed Escudero’s management have approached Central Coast Mariners and Adelaide United about the midfielder.
