A goal to striker Bobo in the 8th minute was enough to give the Sky Blues their eighth straight win over their bitter rivals on Friday night at Allianz Stadium.

Post match Sydney were presented with the Premiers Plate - won two rounds ago - and the Beyond Blue Cup.

The result saw Arnold clinch his 115th A-League win to surpass previous record holder, Ernie Merrick, with the finals still to play.

"Everyone said to at the start of the year we couldn't have a season like we did last year," Arnold told Fox Sports. "We ended up two points less but we ended up scoring more goals in the season."

In all, the Sky Blues tucked away 64 goals and 64 points in the regular season.

But with a must-win AFC Champions League match on Tuesday against Shanghai Shenhua, the Socceroos coach-in-waiting  said there was no time to let loose after securing history-making back-to-back premierships.

"We have a very important game on Tuesday night so the boys will be celebrating tonight with pizza and water," he said.

"We need a much better performance than what we gave tonight.  We've had a lot of football of late and now we've got to recover and get ready for Tuesday."

After Besart Berisha fluffed his chance to put Victory ahead in the 4th minute, the Sky Blues proved far more clinical.

Four minutes later Michael Zullo fizzed a ball past goalkeeper Lawrence Thomas and Bobo got a toe to it, deflecting the ball into the bottom corner. Thomas then pulled off a great save to prevent Milos Ninkovic from doubling the advantage on the half hour.

The visitors dominated the stats in the first half without reward and stepped it up in the second.

Sydney skipper Alex Brosque was subbed just after the hour to a standing ovation and handed the armband to Alex Wilkinson who pulled off a spectacular goalline clearance a few minutes later.

Victory continued to flood forward and Leroy George looked for all money to have scored until Wilkinson stuck out a long leg and saved the three points off his shin.

Arnold added: "It's just a fantastic group of people to coach and work with.

"I have a wonderful staff that give me fantastic support and a great board above me that gives me the resources to be able to perform at the level they want us to.

"I coudn't be happier but as I said we want to finish this off in a great way and we will do that. We' had a fantastic season but now it's about refocusing and getting on with the job."
