Australia rolled to a comfortable 5-0 victory over Oman, showcasing a myriad of flicks and fine finishes while never truly stepping out of second gear.

With 13 goals in his first four tests (this spell) as head coach, it was an equally relaxed Graham Arnold that fronted the media after the match, yet his ambitions for the side are anything but.

"I've been studying Liverpool a lot and that's the system and the style we want to play," Arnold admitted, after pausing for a moment.

"Jackson irvine can score from the '6' position, Luongo from '6', they're the pattens we're playing, but there's a lot of work to do this week.

"We move the ball too slow, we get sloppy at times when you're up three or four nil you've got to be ruthless. You've got to score more. There is a lot of room for improvement."

While recognising that the match appeared to be more of a training ground drill at times than a last ditch, pre-tournament hit out for the new boss, Arnold insisted that the game retained value for his preparation.

"We got minutes and everyone came through the game healthy," he continued.

"It was good to get the boys back together as well, that's the purpose of the game, against a very organised Pim Verbeek team.

"If anything it's made (choosing a first eleven) worse," he said with affected frustration. "I've got more headaches...in a good way.

"It's about getting a deeper pool of players, the side we put out tonight showed the depth is there. With the right leaders around them, they'll go far."
