SYDNEY FC have confirmed that Police have charged a suspect following the car park attack on outbound defender Robbie Middleby after the recent Wellington game.
Robbie Middleby was ambushed by angry fans in Sydney Football Stadium's car park after the match against Wellington Phoenix last week.
Middleby was making his way back to his car when two fans - wearing Sydney scarves over their faces - leapt out and surprised him.
The Sydney statement said: "Sydney FC is happy to confirm that NSW Police have charged a suspect following an incident involving Robbie Middleby after last Sunday’s Hyundai A-League clash at the Sydney Football Stadium.
"The club would like to thank everyone involved in the investigation for their efforts, including Police, the FFA and SFS Management. Due to the legal process Sydney FC can make no further comment at this time."
