The Professional Footballer's Association (PFA) announced the 19-year-old as one of their three A-League nominations for PFA Player of the Month, alongside Bobo and Kosta Barbarouses.

The W-League nominees are Ellie Carpenter, Claire Polkinghorne and Katie Stengel.

Arzani's nomination comes after he scored his debut goal in a 2-2 draw against Newcastle Jets, and played a huge role in Melbourne City's January clashes.

The midfielder has been everpresent in the news this week, following uncertainty over his national allegiance and claims he should be capped as soon as possible to prevent him switching to Iran.

Far from distract him on the pitch, however, the nomination reflects his growing stature within the league.

PFA President, Alex Wilkinson congratulated the nominees on their start to 2018.

“Congratulations to the three nominees, they have all started the New Year exceptionally well,” he said.
