The Australian schoolgirls have made history after going through their tour of Britain undefeated.
The girls team managed six wins and two draws from their eight-game tour of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The tour ended on Monday night with a 3-1 victory over a Shropshire country schools XI.
The Australian schoolgirls beat England independent schools 4-0 in their first game, followed by a 2-0 win against Bristol City and a 5-3 victory over Cardiff Met University.
Then they defeated Welsh schools 1-0, had 2-2 draws with both the Republic of Ireland Under-17 national women's side and Northern Ireland schools, and then defeated Scottish indepedent schools 8-0.
According to Australia coach David O'Keefe, no Aussie schoolgirls squad has previously go through an overseas tour unbeaten.
"I can't be more happy and proud of what they've done," he told FourFourTwo.
"The attitude and the standard they maintained through the tour from day one, even pre-tour at the training camp, was exceptional. They just really gelled, they all trusted each other, they all worked together. They believed in each other and that helped in terms of the results.
"The performances were of a very high standard in trying to replicate what the Matildas do at this level, in terms of playing philosophy. Joey Cartwright scored 10 goals in eight games, she was a standout.
"The two co-captains were outstanding - Erin Pridmore and Lisa Cochrane - both on and off the field. Ally Green was really good. She literally played busted the whole tour. She got injured before she came but just somehow kept playing.
"Alice Burke is an exceptional talent. She can play right and left back, in midfield, right and left wing. She's just got all the ingredients."
The Australian schoolboys finished their UK tour with a 2-1 win over the Shropshire county schools XI. Overall, in 10 games the schoolboys won four, lost four and draw two matches.
