Clut, 16, and Bilic, 18, from NSW, were this morning named as the local winners of Nike's global talent hunt which unearthed Central Coast Mariners prodigy Tom Rogic in 2010.

Now they will have the opportunity to prove themselves on an elite stage and take their game to the highest level when they go to Barcelona as part of the 100 best in the world.

They will be joined by New Zealander Stephen Carmichael from Auckland after the three shone during trials at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra this week, fending off 35 other hopefuls.

The three day event incorporated SPARQ, AIS and skill sessions and 11 v 11 matches in front of Nike scouts, coaches and athletes.

Also watching from the sidelines was newly named Western Sydney Wanderers coach Tony Popovic who visited the AIS yesterday to scope out the young talent.

Devante Clut was thrilled with the news.

“I’m a bit shocked," he admitted. "Previously I’ve gotten to a level where I need to move up, and I’ve been cut.

"Now that I’ve finally achieved the success, I feel proud of myself and very happy. Speechless really,”

Likewise, Matthew Bilic couldn’t believe when he was announced as one of the winners.

Bilic made it through to the Pacific Finals in 2010, however didn’t make the Global final selection that time - but his hard work and determination have paid off this year.

“I was so nervous waiting and when they said my name," he said, "I was so excited. I worked my butt off, so I am just glad to reap the rewards.”
