EXCLUSIVE: Australian-based coach and former Red Star Belgrade player Misha Radovic has been appointed new boss at Indonesian club side Pelita Jaya.
Radovic, a UEFA ‘A’ qualified coach, has been working with the AC Milan junior academy in Sydney in recent years and takes over from from Singaporean Fandi Ahmad at the Indonesian Super League club.
The former defender played for the famed Belgrade club in the late 1970s and 80s before moving to Australia 20 years ago.
Radovic was a recent guest of the coaching staff at J-League club Nagoya Grampus and the Singapore national team as part of a fact-finding trip to Asia.
Pelita Jaya are currently sitting fourth bottom of the 18-team league and Radovic is expected to arrive this Monday ahead of Wednesday night’s clash with Arema Indonesia (formerly Arema Malang).
Radovic told au.fourfourtwo.com that he was looking forward to the challenge of turning around a club that has lost four of its five games this season.
“It’s a challenge but one I’m looking forward to," he said. "They love their football over there and we’ve seen Indonesia in recent times play the Socceroos in Asian Cup qualifiers and they proved a tricky opponent.”
