UK 

In the English Premier League Aaron Mooy got his first start for Brighton in the league playing 70 minutes while Mat Ryan got himself a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw with Newcastle United. 
 


In the Championship Jackson Irvine started and played 84 minutes while Callum Elder was absent for Hull City as they recorded a dominant 3-0 win away to Luton Town. Bailey Wright was absent through injury as Bristol City drew 0-0 with Swansea City. 

Referee Jarred Gillett refereed Nottingham Forest's 1-0 win over Barnsley. It was the first Nottingham fixture ever officiated by an Australian. 

Massimo Luongo was once again an unused sub for Sheffield Wednesday as they defeated Fulham 1-0. The Socceroos midfielder has played only 69 minutes of Championship football since joining Sheffield.

In League One action Harry Souttar was back in the team for Fleetwood Town who defeated Rochdale 2-1. Ryan Williams was an unused sub for Portsmouth as they lost 1-0 to Wycombe Wanderers. 

Ryan Edwards played 90 minutes in midfield for Burton Albion as they lost 2-1 to Tranmere Rovers. Mark Milligan played a full game for Southend United as they recorded their first win of the season, 1-0 away to MK Dons. 

In League Two Cameron Burgess started and played 90 minutes for Salford City as they lost 4-1 away to Crewe Alexandra. Jack Iredale started and played 73 minutes as Carlisle United lost 3-1 away to Bradford City. 

In Scotland Daniel Arzani returned to action for Celtic's Academy in a 1-1 draw with Hibernian. The 20-year old came on in the 64th minute alongside fellow Aussie Leo Mazis who started the second half.

Socceroo wonderkid Daniel Arzani has returned to action in a massive boost for Australia's World Cup and Olympics qualifying campaigns.


In the SPFL Tom Rogic came on in the 84th minute for Celtic in a 3-1 win over Kilmarnock. Oliver Bozanic was an unused sub for Hearts in their Edinburgh derby 2-1 win over Hibs.

In the English youth leagues Tyrese Francois was absent from Fulham U23s' 5-4 victory over Reading U23s. Peter Gwargis played a full match for Brighton U23s in a 2-1 loss to Everton U23s. 

Alexander Robertson started and played 73 minutes for Manchester City U18 as they lost 2-1 to Blackburn U18s. Robertson seemed to have been played out of position with the midfielder deployed at centre-back. 

EUROPE 

The UEFA Champions League kicked off with Milos Degenek and Red Star Belgrade playing 90 minutes in a 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich. His side were shocked 2-0 in the league by Partizan later in the week with Degenek playing 85 minutes.

In the Europa League openers, James Holland stole the show scoring the winner for LASK Linz as captain in their 1-0 victory over FK Rosenborg. It was Holland's first goal of the season and LASK's first ever in European competition.
 


Elsewhere, Tom Rogic was an unused sub for Celtic in their 1-1 draw with Rennes while Aziz Behich was benched for Gael Clichy in Basaksehir's 4-0 opening loss to Roma. 

In Germany, Mat Leckie was absent but Hertha Berlin finally won their first match of the Bundesliga season. Leckie has missed the last two matches since his double against Kuwait. Brandon Borrello was also absent for Freiburg in their 1-1 draw with Augsburg, maintaining third spot on the table. 

Jacob Young was an unused sub for Hoffenheim II in their 1-1 draw with Alzenau while Noah Botic started and played an hour for Hoffenheim U19 in a 2-0 loss to Freiburg U19. John Iredale scored another and made it six for the season in Wolfsburg II's 4-1 loss to Alonaer FC. 

Jacob Italiano was replaced after 68 minutes by Christian Theoharous who got an assist for Borussia Mönchengladbach II in a 3-1 win over Fortuna Dusseldorf II for whom Josh Laws played two minutes.

In the Netherlands Ajdin Hrustic was on the scoresheet once again playing 78 minutes as FC Groningen defeated PEC Zwolle 2-0. Hrustic has three goals in six Eredivisie matches. 



Daniel Bouman scored a brace while Valentin Cesnik played a full game for SC Cambuur U21 in a 7-3 loss to Heerenveen U21. Bouman is yet to make a senior appearance at his new club.

In Denmark Mustafa Amini scored a stunning long range winner for AGF as they defeated OB 2-1 away from home.

Both Aussies made appearances from the bench with Alex Gersbach making his Superliga debut in the 87th minute and Zach Duncan coming on after 57 minute, getting Amini's secondary assist. 



Awer Mabil's Midtjylland drew 0-0 in their top of the table clash with Kobenhavn, but received a second yellow card in the 90th minute and is suspended next week. 

In Austria James Jeggo came on in the 15th minute for an injured Thomas Ebner as Austria Wien beat Altach 2-0. James Holland played 90 minutes for LASK Linz in a 2-2 draw with Red Bull Salzburg.

In Israel Trent Sainsbury and Nikita Rukavytsya both featured in Maccabi Haifa's 1-0 loss to Tel Aviv, but it was Sainsbury's own goal that gave their opponents the victory. 

In Cyprus Apsotolos Giannou started and was substituted after 78 minutes for AEK Larnaca as they drew 2-2 with Olympiakos, their second 2-2 draw in a week. 

In Croatia Fran Karacic started and played 90 minutes for NK Lokomotiv Zagreb in their 2-1 win over Osijek. 

Tomi Juric is still to make his debut for new club CSKA Sofia after another absence in their 3-0 victory over Tsarsko Selo. 

In Portugal Anthony Carter was substituted after 90 minutes as his Academico Viseu got a 1-0 win over Farense. 
 

ASIA 

In Korea Adam Taggart played 90 minutes while Terry Antonis played the first half as Suwon Bluewings were shocked 1-0 in the first leg of the semi-final of the Korean FA Cup by Hwaesong, an amateaur club.

Their luck was only slightly better in the K-League with Antonis replacing Taggart after 51 minutes in a 1-1 draw with Sangju Sangmu. Taggart is scoreless in the last four K-League matches with Junior Negao closing in on his Golden Boot. 

Rashid Mahazi played 90 minutes for Incheon United in their 1-1 draw with Daegu FC. 

In Saudi Arabia Craig Goodwin scored the winner in Al-Wehda's 1-0 away win over Al Feiha. Goodwin also earned himself a place in the Saudi Pro League Team of the Week.


Brad Jones was in between the sticks for Al Nassr as they lost 1-0 at home to Al Hazm.

In Hong Kong Charles Lokoli-Ngoy scored a 95th minute equaliser for Sun Pegasus in a 1-1 draw with Tai Po. 

In Qatar Shane Lowry played 90 minutes for Al Ahli in a 3-1 loss to Al-Gharafa while in Uzbekistan Steven Lustica played 80 minutes for Qizilqum in a 2-1 loss to Bunyodkor.
