There were wins for a host of Socceroos in the English Championship overnight, Mat Leckie played in a six-goal thriller in Germany while Nikolai Topor-Stanley got off to the perfect start at his new club.
UK
Australian skipper Mile Jedinak’s Aston Villa made it back-to-back wins as Jonathan Kodija’s goal handed them a 1-0 triumph over Fulham.
Jedinak played a key role for 73 minutes for the Villans before he was substituted by manager Steve Bruce.
It was another huge 90-minute performance and result for Bailey Wright and Preston North End, as they won 1-0 at high-flying Norwich City.
The victory – thanks to Alex Baptiste’s 75-minute goal – moves Preston up to ninth and just three points from the play-off places.

Elsewhere, Aaron Mooy came on with half an hour to play and helped Huddersfield Town to a 1-0 win thanks to Elias Kachunga’s stoppage-time strike.
Massimo Luongo was unable to inspire QPR, as they lost 1-0 against Sheffield Wednesday, while Ryan Williams came on late as Barnsley beat Brentford 2-0. Jackson Irvine played a full game on Friday for Burton Albion.
In the EPL, Adam Federici watched from the bench as Bournemouth drew 0-0 with Tottenham and it was the same story for Aiden O’Neill as Burnley upset Everton 2-1.
Keeper Alex Cisak was excellent in goal for Leyton Orient in League Two, as they won 3-1 at Hartlepool. But Cameron Burgess went down in League One as his Oldham lost 2-0 against Bristol Rovers.
North of the border, Ryan Edwards got through 90 minutes for Partick Thistle, as they drew 1-1 with Ross County.
EUROPE
It was another good night out for left-back Aziz Behich in Turkey as his Bursaspor secured a big 2-0 win on the road against Alanyaspor.
Behich played a full match for the visitors, who scored twice in the last five minutes to remain in fourth spot in the Turkish Super League.

Winger Mathew Leckie came on with 18 minutes to go for FC Ingolstadt in the German Bundesliga in a six-goal thriller with Borussia Dortmund.
Ingolstadt looked on course for a shock win as they led 3-0 before three goals in the last 30 minutes saw Dortmund escape with a point.
In the Eredivisie, Kenneth Dougall and Craig Goodwin both started for Sparta Rotterdam as they were narrowly beaten 1-0 by PSV Eindhoven.
Daniel De Silva played just over an hour in Roda JC’s 1-1 draw with ADO Den Haag, while in Austria James Jeggo’s Sturm Graz remain clear at the top despite a 2-2 draw with Mattersburg.
ASIA
It was a winning start for ex-Wanderers skipper Nikolai Topor-Stanley in the UAE, as his Hatta side beat Mark Milligan’s Bani Yas 3-2.
In China, Trent Sainsbury came off the bench with 20 minutes to go as Jiangsu Suning conceded late to draw 2-2 with Chongqing Lifan.
Apo Giannou got through 71 minutes in Guangzhou R&F’s 3-1 loss against Beijing Guoan, while Aleksandr Jovanovic’s Tianjin Teda was on the end of a 5-0 drubbing against Hebei.
And in the J—League, Nathan Burns came on in stoppage time of FC Tokyo’s 2-1 win over Kashima Antlers.
