Socceroo Mark Bresciano made his first start of the Italian Serie A season with new club Lazio as they recorded an impressive 2-1 victory over Fiorentina on Saturday.

Bresciano, who joined Lazio from Palermo in the European summer, almost scored the opener with a sweetly-hit first-half volley before being replaced at the break.

In Italy's Serie B, Carl Valeri was back in the Sassuolo matchday squad but remained on the bench for the third time this season as they defeated Vicenza 2-1 on Monday.
