AUSSIES ABROAD: Tim Cahill was the headline act this weekend but Everton coach David Moyes insists the Socceroo is not 100 per cent and is in doubt for the upcoming Paraguay friendly.
The Australian star scored a 90th minute goal in Everton's much-needed 2-0 victory at Birmingham City on Saturday with a close-range header.
But Moyes said Cahill, who recently returned from a niggling knee injury, was not fully fit despite getting through the full 90 minutes at St Andrews.
"There was a doubt about Cahill today," Moyes said. "He is still not looking 100 per cent. He has not trained enough for me to think everything is absolutely right."
The niggle puts Cahill's availability for Saturday's friendly in Sydney against Paraguay in doubt despite the Aussie being named in Holger Osieck's 19-man squad for the trip.
Elsewhere, Brett Emerton made his first start of the Premiership season as Blackburn Rovers lost 1-0 at Stoke City on Saturday.
Emerton, who will miss the upcoming Paraguay friendly due to suspension, got through 75 minutes and had a shot cleared off the line. Vince Grella was absent due to a hamstring injury.
Meanwhile, Mark Schwarzer put in a full shift as Fulham drew 1-1 at West Ham on Saturday, while David Carney was absent as Blackpool recorded a stunning 2-1 victory at Liverpool on Sunday. Aussie goalkeeper Brad Jones was an unused substitute for the Reds.
In Italy's Serie A, Mark Bresciano produced a hard-working appearance in midfield as a 59th minute substitute as Lazio went to the top of the table with a 1-0 victory over Brescia.
In Italy's Serie B, Socceroo Carl Valeri returned after his recent absence as a 61st minute substitute as Sassuolo lost 2-0 at home to Atalanta Bergamo.
Elsewhere, Adrian Madaschi played a full game, but conceded an own goal, as Torino defeated Portosummaga 2-1.
In Turkey's Super Lig, Socceroo Mile Jedinak was sent off as Genclerbirligi lost 3-0 at Fenerbahce on Saturday. Jedinak received his marching orders on 67 minutes after a second bookable offence.
Elsewhere, Lucas Neill conceded a dubious penalty before being replaced at the break, while Harry Kewell put in a full shift spurning a late chance as Galatasaray lost 2-1 at Karabukspor on Friday.
Meanwhile, James Troisi was absent as Kayserispor won 2-0 at Manisaspor on Saturday, while Ersan Gulum missed out as Besiktas lost 1-0 at Trabzonspor.
In Holland's Eredivisie, Brett Holman continued to his recovery from a calf injury as a 45th minute substitute in AZ Alkmaar's 2-1 win over Heracles Almelo.
