It was a Jekyll and Hyde week for our Aussies abroad with our boys across Europe, the UK and Asia back in the goals. Meanwhile injury news in Scotland has clouded over a brilliant week for our boys abroad.
In Italy Nick Pennington started and played 84 minutes for Olbia in their 4-3 win over Carrarese before playing 57 minutes in a 0-0 draw with Arezzo. Reno Piscopo played 120 minutes as Renate lost 6-5 on penalties to Gozzano in the Lega Pro Coppa Italia. Giancarlo Gallifuoco played a full game for Rieti in their Serie C match against Viterbese.
In Malta Harry Ascroft started and played a full match as Balzan FC lost 2-0 to St. Andrews.
In Serbia Milos Degenek played a full match as Red Star Belgrade beat Macva Sabac 2-0 for whom Andrew Marveggio was absent from the squad. Degenek played two more full matches in the week, a 3-1 win over Backa and a 2-0 victory over Proleter while Marveggio was an unused sub in a 3-0 loss to Radnicki Nis.
In Germany Mat Leckie played four minutes off the bench for Hertha Berlin as they knocked out Darmstadt 2-0 before playing 23 minutes off the bench in their 3-0 loss to RB Leipzig. Robbie Kruse played a full game as VFL Bochum drew 3-3 with Regensburg and played seven minutes off the bench in a 2-2 draw with Greuther Fürth. Kwame Yeboah started but was substituted after 30 minutes with an injury in Fortuna Koln's victory over Wiesbaden.
George Timotheou started and played 90 minutes for FC Schalke U23 in a 4-0 win over Holzwickeder. Christian Theoharous was absent from Borussia Mönchengladbach II's squad that lost 2-0 to Borussia Dortmund II. Jamie Percevski and Josh Laws were absent from Fortuna Dusseldorf II's squad that defeated Herkenrath 3-0. Julian Schwarzer was an unused sub for Pipinsried in their 4-2 loss to Greuther Fürth II. John Anton Buceto made his return from injury and was an unused sub for Kaan-Marienborn in their 1-1 draw with Wuppertaler.
In Croatia Fran Karacic and his NK Lokomotiv Zagreb progressed in the Croation Cup with a 3-1 victory over Zadar before playing a full match in a 1-0 win over Istra 1961. Steve Lustica was a 74th minute sub for Inter Zapresic as they defeated Istra 1961 2-1 in the Croation Cup. Marc Moric played a full match and got an assist as NK Rijeka U19 defeated Zagreb 3-1.
In Holland Trent Sainsbury played 100 minutes while Aziz Behich played the full 120 as PSV were at the hands of a 'cupset', knocked out of the KNVB Cup by RKC Waalwijk. Both players were unused subs in PSV's 1-1 draw with Vitesse. Denis Genreau made a hige impact in the KNVB Cup for PEC Zwolle assisting twice in his 68 minutes on the field as his side beat De Grafschaap 5-2. Dean Bouzanis was also an unused sub in the cup match. Genreau played a full match while Bouzanis was again an unused sub as PEC Zwolle lost to Fortuna Sittard in the league. Ajdin Hrustic played 3 minutes off the bench as Gronigen beat Excelsior 4-2.
Daniel Baggio was absent from Sparta Rotterdam U19's squad that defeated Jong Feyenoord 3-1. Daniel Bouman was an 85th minutes substitute for Jong Gronigen in their 1-0 win over VVOG. Quivi Fowler was absent from Jong FC Dordrecht's squad that lost 2-1 to NAC Breda U21.
In Portugal Dylan Collard played seven minutes off the bench for Tondela U19 as they drew 2-2 with Unaio Leiria. Gavin De Niese played the first half as Gafanha lost 2-0 to Pedras.
In Denmark Mustafa Amini played 39 minutes off the bench as AGF lost 2-1 to Næstved before playing a full match in a 2-0 loss to Randers. Awer Mabil started and played 77 minutes in a 2-0 win over Kobenhavn in the Cup before playing 78 minutes and scoring in a brilliant 3-2 comeback victory over Brondby. Mabil finished the week playing until the 79th minute in a 2-2 draw with Esbjerg for whom Brent McGrath played 10 minutes off the bench.
In Austria Caleb Mikulic was absent from Young Violets' squad that drew 0-0 with FC Wacker II. Jimmy Jeggo played 90 minutes in a 3-1 victory over Floridsdorfer before another full match in a surprise 3-2 home loss to Wolfsberg. James Holland played a full game as LASK Linz progressed in the Austrian Cup beating Altach 3-0 before playing another 90 minutes in a 2-2 draw with St. Polten.
In Norway Alex Gersbach was absent from Rosenborg's squad that beat Start 2-1 in the Norwegian Cup Semi-Final, he was again absent in their 3-1 victory over Odd. Luc Jeggo played until the 79th minute for Floro SK in a 2-1 loss to Notodden.
In the Czech Republic Golgol Mebrahtu was a 65th minute substitute as Sparta Praha drew 2-2 in the Prague derby against Slavia Praha.
In Cyprus Apostolos Giannou played a full game as AEK Larnaca beat Anorthosis 2-1 before playing 71 minutes in a 1-0 loss to AEL. Bai Antoniou was absent from Alki Oroklini's squad that lost 2-0 to Paralimni.
In Slovenia Aleksander Susnjar played a full match in MSK Zilina's 3-0 victory over Ruzomberok. His side now sit 3rd on the Slovak Super Liga table.
In Slovenia Deni Juric played only a few seconds of stoppage time for NK Triglav as they held on to a 4-3 victory over Krsko.
In Turkey Erdeniz Yildiz played a full match for Göztepe U21's 1-1 draw with Akhisar.
In Switzerland Tomi Juric scored three minutes after coming on in the Swiss Cup as Luzern beat Chiasso 2-0 before playing a full match in a 5-2 loss to FC Zurich.
