It was battle of the Aussies in the English Premier League as Socceroos goalkeeper Mat Ryan's Brighton prevailed over Aaron Mooy's Huddersfield Town 2-1 away from home. Ryan played a full match while Mooy was substituted off in the 63rd minute, six minutes before Brighton scored the winner. 

Huddersfield dropped to 17th in the table while Brighton jumped over Wolverhampton Wanderers in 11th spot. 

Tom Rogic's Celtic added yet another piece of silverware to the Brendan Rogers era as he completed 64 minutes in the Scottish League Cup Final where Celtic triumphed 1-0 over Aberdeen.

In the SPFL, newly minted Socceroos Martin Boyle played a full game, Mark Milligan started and played 86 minutes while Jamie Maclaren was an unused sub as Hibernian lost 3-0 to Kilmarnock. Hibernian currently sit in eighth place. Andy Rose was an unused sub as Motherwell lost 2-0 to Livingston. Ryan Edwards was brought on in the 34th minute for St Mirren in their 3-1 loss at home to Hamilton. Oli Bozanic played a full match while Ben Garuccio was absent as Hearts lost 2-1 to Rangers. 

In the English Championship, Mass Luongo started and played 76 minutes as QPR drew 2-2 against Rotherham United for whom Ryan Williams played 86 minutes. Williams later in the week played a full match in a 3-1 loss to Norwich City. Luongo went on to play a full match although he disappointed in a 3-2 loss to Hull City for whom Jackson Irvine played a full match also. Irvine went on to play the full 90 minutes in a 0-0 draw against Norwich City. Former Socceroos captain Mile Jedinak was absent as his Aston Villa drew 5-5 with Nottingham Forest and later in the week he was an unused sub as Villa beat Middlesborough 3-0. 

James Meredith had a night to forget playing a full match and scoring an own goal in a 2-0 loss to Birmingham City at home. Meredith completed 90 minutes later in the week in a 1-1 draw with Bristol City. Adam Federici was on the bench for Stoke City's 2-1 win over Derby County and their 2-2 draw with Reading FC. 

In League One action, Cameron Burgess played a full game as Scunthorpe United lost 2-0 to Southend United. Brad Inman was absent from Rochdale FC's 4-2 loss to Oxford United. Ryan McGowan played a full 90 minutes as Bradford City were humbled 4-0 against Luton Town. 

Jordan Lyden was absent from Oldham Athletic's 2-0 victory over Maidstone United in League Two. 

In the English Youth Leagues, Callum Elder started and played a full match in Leicester City U23s' 1-0 win over Sparta Prague B in the Premier League International Cup. Ashley Maynard-Brewer started in goal and Ryan Blumberg also started for Charlton Athletic U23s as they lost 4-0 to Crystal Palace U23. Aussie hot shot Ben Folami started and played a full game as Ipswich town U23s lost 2-0 to Millwall FC. Con Ouzinidis played a full game in defence for Everton U23 as they defeated Sheffield United 1-0. Jacob Young played a full game for Sunderland U23s as they lost 3-1 to Middlesborough U23s. 

Kai Caldebrank-Park was in goals for Burnley U18s and played a full game while Oscar Woods was an unused sub as Burnley lost 3-1 to Nottingham Forest U18s. Riley Warland was in defence as Fulham U18s lost 6-2 to Arsenal U18s. 

In the Scottish Championship, Lyndon Dykes played a full game as Queen of the South beat Partick Thistle 1-0. Tom Beadling came off in the 84th minute while Jack Iredale played a full match for Greenock Morton who lost 3-0 to Dunfermline Athletic. 

EUROPE

In the UEFA Champions League, Milos Degenek started and played a full game for Red Star Belgrade as they lost 3-1 to Napoli. Degenek has played all of Degenek's UCL matches in the group stage. Trent Sainsbury and Aziz Behich were unused subs as PSV lost narrowly 2-1 to Barcelona. Aziz Behich is yet to make a Champions League appearance. 

In the UEFA Europa League, Danny Vukovic was in goals as KRC Genk drew 2-2 with Malmo in their groups stage encounter while Genk have already qualified to the next stage they've lost only once. Alex Gersbach was absent from Rosenborg's squad while Tom Rogic played a full game as Celtic beat the Norwegian side 1-0. Apostolos Giannou broke his Europa League drought scoring in AEK Larnaca's 2-1 win over FC Zurich. 

In the Bundesliga, Socceroos winger Mat Leckie started his second goal in a row for Hertha Berlin and came off in the 87th minute as they beat Hannover 96 2-0 away from home. Brandon Borello has returned from injury and is in training at Freiburg and is on the road to the first team. His side lost 2-0 to Borussia Dortmund at the intimidating Signal Iduna Park. Robbie Kruse is still out with a minor injury as VFL Bochum drew 0-0 with Magdeburg. Kwame Yeboah was absent from Fortuna Koln's squad that lost 3-0 to SV Meppen.

In the German youth leagues, Christian Theoharous was back in action for Borussia Mönchengladbach II as he played 18 minutes off the bench. Josh Laws was absent from Fortuna Dusseldorf II's squad that lost 1-0 to SC Verl. Salvatore Russo was absent from Inter Leipzig's 1-1 draw with Krieschow. 

Jamie Percevski was absent from Fortuna Dusseldorf U19s squad that drew 0-0 with Borussia Mönchengladbach U19s. George Timotheou started and played a full match yet again as FC Schalke II defeated SV Rhynern 3-0. 

In Holland, Trent Sainsbury and Aziz Behich were unused subs in a 2-1 loss to Feyenoord. Denis Genreau and Dean Bouzanis was were both unused subs as PEC Zwolle beat De Grafschaap 2-0. Ajdin Hrustic started and played 87 minutes in a dominant 5-2 victory for FC Gronigen against NAC Breda.

John Iredale started and played 80 minutes for Jong Heerenveen as they lost 4-1 to Jong Heracles Almelo. Dylan Ryan and Luca Da Silva was absent from Jong Willem as they lost 2-1 to Jong Ado Den Haag. Quivi Fowler was absent for Jong Dordrecht while George Mells was absent for Jong Sittard as the two sides played out a draw. Sebastian Pasquali was an unused sub for Jong Ajax as they beat FC Twente 5-2. 

In Denmark, Awer Mabil was on the scoresheet again for FC Midtjylland in their 2-1 victory over Randers away from home. The Socceroo scored in the opening minutes cheekily chipping the goalkeeper.

Mustafa Amini was a 46th minute substitute for AGF as they lost 2-1 to Horsens. Brent McGrath started and played 85 minutes for Esbjerg FC as they lost 4-1 to Aalborg.

In Belgium, Danny Vukovic kept a crucial clean sheet for Genk as they defeated Anderlecht 1-0 away from home to put four points between them and Club Brugge in second place in the league. 

In Austria, Socceroo No. 601 Jimmy Jeggo played a full game for Austria Wien in a 2-0 win over St Polten. James Holland played a full match in LASK's 3-3 draw with Hartberg. Caleb Mikulic was absent from Austria Wien Young Violets as they beat Vorwarts 4-2. 

In Croatia, NK Lokomotiv Zagreb captain Fran Karacic played a full match in a 1-1 draw with Slaven Belupo. Steven Lustica was absent from Inter Zapresic's 2-0 win over Istra 1961. Anthony Kalik played a full match for NK Rudes as they lost 4-1 to Hajduk Split. 

In Switzerland, Socceroos striker Tomi Juric was absent from FC Luzern's squad that lost 2-0 to FC Sion. Juric has scored two goals in eight appearances this season. Liam Chipperfield played a full game for FC Basel U15s as they lost 4-1 to FC Thun U15s. Earlier in the week Chipperfield nailed a brace in a big 3-0 win over FC Winterhur. 

In Serbia, Milos Degenek played a full game for Red Star Belgrade in a 2-0 victory over Vozdovac. Andrew Marveggio was an unused sub in a Macva Sabac's 1-0 win over Cukaricki. 

In Italy, Gabriel Cleur was an unused sub as Virtus Entella drew 1-1 with Novara. Reno Piscopo played a full match as Renate drew 2-2 with Teramo. Daniel Alessi played a full game for Sasso Marconi as his side defeated Adrense 2-1. 

In Portugal, Dyland Collard played a full game for Tondela U19s 2-1 victory Cova de Piedade. Earlier in the week Collard scored the winning goal for Tondela U19s over Academica. 

In the Czech Republic Golgol Mebrahtu came on in the 20th minute and played until the 120th in Sparta Prague's 4-3 penalty win over SFC Opava in the Czech Cup. Mebrahtu was an unused sub for Sparta in a 2-1 loss to Slovacko. 

In Cyprus, Bai Antoniou was an unused sub for Alki Oroklini in a 2-0 win over Nea Salamis. 

In Slovakia, Aleksander Susnjar played a full game for MSK Zilina in their 2-2 draw with Dunajska Streda. 

In Slovenia, Deni Juric was absent from NK Triglav's squad that lost 3-1 to Rudar.  

ASIA 

In Japan, Andrew Nabbout started his first match of the season as Urawa Red Diamonds beat FC Tokyo 3-2 on the last day of the season. Ange Postecoglou's Yokohama F Marinos lost 2-1 to Cerezo Osaka as they finished 12th in the league but Postecoglou received a two-year contract extension in Japan. Mitch Duke was an unused and frustrated sub as Shimizu S-Pulse drew 4-4 with V-Varen Nagasaki. Mitch Langerak survived relegation with Nagoya Grampus by the skin of his teeth with a 2-2 draw with Shonan Bellmare. 

In Korea, Kwabena Appiah-Kubi was an unused sub for Incheon United who beat Jeonnam Dragons 3-1 for whom James Donachie played a full game and with that loss, his side was relegated to K-League 2. Jeonnam finished bottom of the J-League table. 

Dylan McGowan was absent from Gangwon's squad that lost 1-0 to Daegu. Aleksander Jovanovic played a full game and scored in Jeju United's last match of the season in a 2-0 win over Suwon Bluewings. Connor Chapman played 63 minutes for Pohang Steelers in their 3-1 loss to Ulsan Hyundai. 

In Saudi Arabia, Jack Duncan and Rhys Williams both played 90 minutes for Al-Qadisiyah in a 1-1 draw with Al-Faisaly. Matt Jurman returned to the starting line up for Ittihad after missing the last three games to play 90 minutes in this weekend's 2-2 draw with Al Hazm

In the UAE, Bernie Ibini was absent from the Emirates Club's squad that lost 6-0 to Al-Jazira. 

In India Erik Paartalu came on in the second half for Bengaluru FC after recovering from a toe injury before the international break as his side beat Delhi Dynamos 1-0. He was back in the starting lineup yesterday in a 2-1 win over Pune City. Tim Cahill played 29 minutes off the bench for Jamshedpur in their 0-0 draw with North East United. Eli Babalj played 22 minutes off the bench for his new club ATK as they drew 0-0 with FC Goa. Later in the week Babalj played eight minutes off the bench in a 3-2 win over Chennayin FC.
