As the final group stage match day in European competition came to an end, our Aussies in the Europa League rejoiced while those in the Champions League head back to the drawing board. Elsewhere our Aussies in India stole the show while there are some more worries for Robbie Kruse in Germany.
In the UEFA Champions League this week Trent Sainsbury earned his first start in the prestigious competition as his PSV drew 1-1 against Inter at the famous San Siro while Aziz Behich missed his chance for Champions League football. Sainsbury's PSV were knocked out of the competition finishing last in the group with two points. Milos Degenek played a full match as Red Star Belgrade lost 4-1 at home to a rampant PSG. Degenek played all six of Red Star's matches in the group stage.
In the UEFA Europa League Apo Giannou started and played 84 minutes of AEK Larnaca's 5-1 loss at home to Bayer Leverkusen. Tom Rogic's Celtic progressed to the knockout stages of the Europa League despite losing 2-1 at home to Red Bull Salzburg as Rogic played a full match. Alex Gersbach's Rosenborg's 1-1 draw with Red Bull Leipzig kept Celtic in second place as the Aussie left-back was an unused substitute. Danny Vukovic kept a clean sheet as his KRC Genk crushed Sarpsborg 4-0 to top Group I with 11 points.
UK
In damnable news midweek, Huddersfield's Aaron Mooy was sidelined for up to three months with a knee injury. Meanwhile Mat Ryan's Brighton went down 2-1 at home to Chelsea as Ryan completed another 90 minutes for his club.
In Championship action Jackson Irvine had a quiet 90 minutes as Hull City beat Brentford 2-0 at home. Ryan Williams played 46 minutes as Rotherham United rescued a point at home drawing 1-1 at home to Reading FC. Mile Jedinak was absent from Aston Villa's squad and Adam Federici was an unused sub as both sides went home with a point in a 2-2 draw. James Meredith started and played 46 minutes for Millwall as they lost 3-2 away from home to Preston North End. Massimo Luongo had a cracking game in midfield as QPR got back to winning ways beating Middlesborough 2-1, their first win in over a month. Bailey Wright has finally completed his recovery from injury and was on the bench for Bristol City's 2-2 draw with Norwich City.

In League One Action Cameron Burgess was dropped to the bench for Scunthorpe in their 3-0 loss to Doncaster Rovers. Brad Inman played a full match and scored an equaliser but his Rochdale side went on to lose 2-1 to Plymouth Argyle. Ryan McGowan was an unused sub as Bradford City smashed Walsall 4-0 at home. McGowan was also an unused sub in Bradford's midweek FA Cup match, losing 3-2 on penalties to Peterborough.
In League Two action Jordan Lyden was a stoppage time substitute as Oldham Athletic beat Bury 4-2 at home.
In the SPFL it was the battle of the Aussies, or so we thought. Hibernian's Martin Boyle and Mark Milligan were absent while Jamie Maclaren was an unused sub and Celtic's Tom Rogic was rested after their Europa League match. Hibernian ran out 2-0 winners.
Ben Garuccio started and played 77 minutes and Oli Bozanic played a full match as Hearts were humiliated 5-0 by Livingston. Jesse Curran played a full game as Dundee lost 3-1 away to table topping Kilmarnock. Ryan Edwards played a full match for St.Mirren as they lost 2-1 at home to Aberdeen. Andy Rose was absent from Motherwell's squad that beat St. Johnstone 2-1 away from home.
In the Scottish Championship Lyndon Dykes played a full match for Queen of the South as they drew 0-0 with Dunfermline Athletic for whom Tom Beadling also played 90 minutes. Jack Iredale was absent from Greenock Morton's 0-0 draw against Falkirk.
In the English youth leagues Callum Elder was absent from Leicester U23s' 1-0 win over Brighton. Tom Glover was on the bench for Tottenham U23s who beat Man City 2-1. Kai Caldebrank-Park was in goal and played 120 minutes for Burnley U18s as they lost 3-2 on penalties to Oxford United in the FA Youth Cup. Oscar Woods was absent from the squad. Con Ouzinidis was an unused sub for Everton U23s as they lost 4-1 to Bayern München II in the Premier League International Cup. Ouzinidis was in action again playing an hour of Everton U23s' 1-0 win over Derby County U23s. Ben Folami played a full game but didn't have a hand in any goals as Ipswich Town U-23 drew 3-3 with QPR U23s.
Liam Driscoll was in goal while Joel Rollinson was absent as Reading U-23 lost 1-0 at home to Manchester United U23s. Ashley Maynard-Brewer was absent while Ryan Blumberg started but received a red card on 83 minutes as Charlton U23s beat Cardiff City U23s 1-0. Riley Warland was absent from the Fulham U18s squad that lost 2-1 to West Bromwich Albion U23s.
EUROPE
In Germany Mat Leckie played 80 minutes for Hertha Berlin who lost 2-1 to Stuttgart. Hertha are keeping up the chase for the top four and are only two points away from their goal. Robbie Kruse was absent from Vfl Bochum's 3-1 loss at home to St Pauli and was again absent as they lost 2-0 to Union Berlin. Kwame Yeboah was absent from Fortuna Koln's squad that drew 1-1 with SG.
In the German youth leagues Christian Theoharous played 23 minutes off the bench as Borussia Mönchengladbach II drew 2-2 with Fortuna Dusseldorf II for whom Josh Laws was absent. George Timotheou played a full match as FC Schalke defeated Westfalia Herne 3-1 at home continuing their dominance of the Oberliga Westfalen.
In the Netherlands Denis Genreau was absent while Dean Bouzanis was an unused sub as PEC Zwolle drew 0-0 with NAC Breda. Trent Sainsbury and Aziz Behich were unused subs for PSV as they beat Heracles Almelo 4-0. Ajdin Hrustic was absent from FC Groningen's squad that fell to defeat at home losing 2-1 to FC Emmen.
In the Dutch youth leagues Sebastian Pasquali was an unused sub as Jong Ajax beat Almere City 3-2. Dylan Ryan and Luca Da Silva were absent from Jong Willem's squad that defeated Jong Dordrecht 4-0 for whom Quivi Fowler was also absent. John Iredale sadly broke a bone in his right foot and will be absent for the rest of the season for Jong Heerenveen. They lost 2-0 to FC Emmen U21s this week. Daniel Bouman returned from injury for Jong Groningen and played the second half as his side lost 1-0. Daniel Baggio was absent from Sparta Rotterdam U19s squad that lost 4-1 to PSV U-19. Thomas Prinsen was absent from Jong Almere City's squad that defeated Kozakken boys 2-1.
In Denmark Mustafa Amini played a full game as AGF lost 1-0 away from home against Nordsjælland. Awer Mabil played 71 minutes as his FC Midtjylland side defeated Horsens 3-1 away from home. Midtjylland remain second in the Danish league three points behind Kobenhavn.
In Austria Jimmy Jeggo was on the scoresheet for Austria Wien as they put six goals past a hapless Rapid Wien. James Holland played a full match as LASK Linz defeated Mattersburg 2-1.

In Croatia Fran Karacic played a full match for NK Lokomotiv Zagreb as they drew 2-2 with HNK Gorica. Steven Lustica was absent as his Inter Zapresic were embarrassed 6-0 away to Osijek. Anthony Kalik played a full match for NK Rudes as they lost 1-0 away from home to Istra 1961.
In Serbia Andrew Marveggio was a stoppage time substitute for Macva as they drew 0-0 with Partizan. Milos Degenek played a full match as Red Star Belgrade defeated Cukaricki 2-1 away from home.
In Belgium it was two clean sheets in a week as Danny Vukovic played between the sticks for Genk as they defeated Oostende 2-0 at home.
In Switzerland Tomi Juric seems to have fallen out of favour at Luzern as he was an unused substitute in their 2-1 win over St Gallen. Liam Chipperfield played 90 minutes and got a goal and assist for FC Basel U15s as they smashed FC Aarau U15 9-0.
In Czech Republic Golgol Mebrahtu was absent from Sparta Praha's squad that drew 1-1 with Pribram.
In Italy Gabriel Cleur was an unused sub for Virtus Entella who drew 2-2 with Arezzo. Reno Piscopo played a full match for AC Renate however they went down 1-0 at home to Suditro. Giancarlo Galifuoco played a full game and got a clean sheet as FC Rieti played out a 1-0 win over Bisceglie. Daniel Alessi played 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw away to Calvina, his Sasso Marconi sit in 11th spot in the Serie D Group D ladder.
In Turkey Erdeniz Yildiz was absent from the Göztepe U21s squad that drew 3-3 with Bursaspor U21.
ASIA
In Saudi Arabia Matt Jurman played a full game for Al-Ittihad who got a decisive 3-1 victory away from home against Al-Batin.
In the UAE Bernie Ibini played 17 minutes off the bench as Emirates Club lost heavily to Al-Sharjah, 4-0. Emirates Club are currently second last in the Arabian Gulf League.
In India Tim Cahill celebrated his 39th birthday with his second ISL goal as Jamshedpur recorded a 2-1 win over Delhi Dynamos. A trademark header equalised for his side before they went on to win at home.
