ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE

HARRY KEWELL (Liverpool)
There was talk he might take a place on the bench for their away game at Portsmouth last week but he was a no-show for the 0-0 draw. This week though, there's no chance he'll be featuring in their clash against Birmingham, even though it's his 29th birthday. They drew 0-0.

LUCAS NEILL (West Ham)
Neill was back at West Ham for their 3-0 win over Mark Schwarzer and Middlesbrough last week, starting the match as skipper and playing the whole game. He looked a bit jetlagged though and missed an offside trap that almost cost the Hammers a goal. They travelled to face Newcastle on Sunday and Neill featured from the start but it wasn't a great day as they went down 3-1, with two of the goals from fellow Socceroo, Mark Viduka, embarrassing Neill's defence.

MARK VIDUKA - JAMES TROISI (Newcastle United)
Viduka limped out of his last match for Newcastle with a hamstring injury, and despite hopes to the contrary, that didn't clear up in time for him to start in Monday's match against Derby. However he was cleared to play this week against Lucas Neill and West Ham. Shearer's tipped him and Owen to shine upfront for the Magpies. And he shine he did, scoring twice for Newcastle - the first time he's scored at home for Toon - before being substituted after 72 minutes and named man of the match as his side won 3-1.

MARK SCHWARZER - BRAD JONES (Middlesbrough)
Boro travelled to West Ham and Schwarzer was a small doubt over the knee injury he picked up late in the Argentina game but started between the sticks for Boro with Jones on the bench, ready to step in if needed. Boro had a shocker though and went down 3-0, including an own goal that left Schwarzer no chance. Meanwhile, Schwarzer is still dragging his feet on signing a new contract with Boro. It's a north-east derby this weekend, with Boro up against Sunderland and Schwarzer was hoping to improve on his record of just one clean sheet in Boro's last 12 home games, but he conceded one within two minutes of the kick-off and it ended 2-2.

BRETT EMERTON (Blackburn Rovers)
Emmo was fit and ready to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last week, making it into the starting line-up in his regular slot as his side drew 0-0, thanks to a dodgy offside call. He had a shocker in Rover's UEFA clash against Larissa during the week, giving away a goal with a poor backpass. They lost 1-0 at home to Portsmouth on Sunday and Emerton played the whole match.

JOSIP SKOKO (Wigan Athletic)
He's had an erratic season and so far is unable to hold down a guaranteed first team start. Wigan faced Fulham last weekend and Skoko started on the bench but came on after for the last 30 minutes and picked up a booking as his side salvaged a 1-1 draw. They faced Reading this weekend and Skoko started the game and played the whole game but they lost 2-1.

TIM CAHILL (Everton)
He's been out injured all season since breaking a bone in his foot in a pre-season friendly against Werder Bremen, but now Tim too is on the comeback trail and was out running at training this week. Worringly, he was talking about putting his club before the Socceroos now. Everton lost 1-0 at home against Man United last weekend and they lost 2-0 to Aston Villa on Sunday but Cahill's still got some way to go before he pops up on the bench.

ADRIAN LEIJER (Fulham)
Leijer's the sole Aussie at Fulham now Ahmad Elrich is at Wellington Phoenix but has still to get his first team start with Fulham, once again missing from line-up for their 1-1 draw with Wigan last weekend. They drew 3-3 with Man City this weekend, but Leijer wasn't in the squad.

ADAM FEDERICI (Reading)
Federici is having another long season on the bench playing second fiddle to Marcus Hahnemann. Reading lost 2-1 away to Sunderland last weekend with Fed on the bench and he was again when they beat Wigan 2-1.

BUNDESLIGA

MICHAEL BEAUCHAMP - JOSHUA KENNEDY - MATTHEW SPIRANOVIC - DARIO VIDOSIC (Nurnberg)
Beechy and Spira made it to the bench, but their services weren't required as Nurnberg drew 2-2 with Hannover 96 last weekend. They lost 1-0 to Hamburg this weekend, with Spira playing the whole game while Beauchamp stayed on the bench, Kennedy and Dario not getting a look in.

ITALIAN SERIE A

MARK BRESCIANO (Palermo)
He was facing his Socceroo team-mate Vinnie Grella when Palermo played host to Torino last Sunday. Bresh came on after 27 minutes to replace the injured Pisano and almost doubled his side's early 1-0 lead when a scorcher shot was parried by the Torino 'keeper, but Torino found a second half equaliser and it finished 1-1. They were away to Cagliari on Sunday, and Man City is STILL talking about snapping Bresh up in January. Palermo won 1-0 and Bresh played the whole game but was denied on at least four great scoring opportunities.

VINCE GRELLA (Torino)
He faced Socceroo team mate Mark Bresciano when his club made the trip to Sicily to play Palermo last Sunday. Grella came on after 44 minutes to replace the injured Zanetti and ten minutes later, Torino had equalised for a final 1-1 draw. They had another 1-1 draw against Siena on Sunday and Grella played the whole game.

ZELJKO KALAC (AC Milan)
Spider's still bench-warming, still waiting for Dida to knack himself. AC drew 1-1 with Siena last weekend and Dida was in goal. They drew 1-1 Parma this weekend and Kalac didn't get a look in.

JESS VANSTRATTAN (Juventus)
Jess is back at Juve, but on loan this time. Juve lost 1-0 to Udinese this weekend and Buffon was between the sticks and was again when they drew 2-2 with Roma this weekend.

ITALIAN SERIE B

CARL VALERI (Grosseto)
He's looking like Skoko's replacement in the Socceroos after being swapped for him in the Argentina match but he needs to raise his passing game to guarantee selection. Grosseto drew 0-0 with Cesena last weekend and Valeri played the whole game. They beat Rimini 2-1 this weekend for their first ever Serie B victory and Valeri played the whole match.

ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP

JAMES WESOLOWSKI - PATRICK KISNORBO - PAUL HENDERSON (Leicester City)
They faced a home tie with QPR last weekend. Kis and Wes played the full match- with Wes almost snatching a late winner - but Henderson was on the bench as they drew 1-1. Wes is now out for six to eight weeks with a hamstring injury but Kis played the whole game as they lost 2-0 against Charlton this weekend, with Hendo on the bench.

DAVID CARNEY (Sheffield United)
The Blades won 3-1 at home to Wolves last weekend but Carney still hadn't earned a place even on the bench. Now he's picked up a hip injury and didn't feature in the 3-2 loss away to Crystal Palace.

RICHARD GARCIA (Hull City)
Hull took on Stoke last week, with Garcia starting and played for 75 minutes but his side rescued a point with a late equaliser for a 1-1 draw. They beat Wolves midweek after Garcia won a penalty for his side which was slotted homeby Dean Windass. They faced Sheffield Wednesday away this weekend and Garcia played the whole game but they went down 1-0.

NICK WARD (QPR)
His club drew 1-1 with the fellow Aussies in the Leicester line up last weekend, but Ward didn't make the bench, presumably getting a rest after his international ardours. He was talking about his battle to play this week but he didn't make it onto the bench for the 1-1 draw at home against Championship leaders, Watford, this weekend.

ENGLISH LEAGUE ONE

CHRIS COYNE (Luton Town)
Coyne's squad took on Tranmere away last week and Coyne played the whole game but his side lost 2-1 to the new league leaders. They were at home to Port Vale this weekend and Coyne played the whole game as they won 2-1.

NEIL KILKENNY (Oldham)
Kilkenny looked to be out for two months after ripping a thigh muscle but he's said to have made remarkable progress and could be back in action by the end of the month. He still watched from the stands last weekend though as Oldham played host to Southend but lost 1-0. He was said to be touch and go for their away game against Walsall this weekend but didn't make it into the bench as his side won 3-0.

JOEL PORTER (Hartlepool United)
They took on Swindon last weekend and Porter started on the bench but came on for the second half and scored a vital equaliser to level the scores at 1-1. He also picked up a booking for his troubles. They're away to Leyton Orient this weekend and Porter began the game on the bench but came on for the last 17 minutes as his club won 4-2.

SCOTT GUYETT (Yeovil)
Guyett played the whole game as Yeovil went down 1-0 at home to Leyton Orient and they travel to Brighton this weekend with Guyett playing the whole game as they won 2-1.

SHANE SHERIFF (Tranmere)
He played the whole game winning 2-1 at home against Luton last week and they face Cheltenham away this weekend, with Sheriff playing the whole match and picking up a yellow as they drew 1-1.

ENGLISH LEAGUE TWO

SHANE HUKE (Dagenham and Redbridge)
They were away to Notts County last weekend and Huke came off the bench for the last 11 minutes as his side went down 1-0. They faced Bury this weekend and Huke was in the starting XI, playing the whole game in the 1-1 draw.

AARON DOWNES (Chesterfield)
He came on after 63 minutes and picked up a booking as Chesterfield beat Mansfield 3-1 away last weekend. He was cleared to play against Barnet at home this weekend and lasted the distance but his side went down 1-0.

GARETH EDDS (MK Dons)
Edds came on for the last five minutes of MK Dons' 3-0 thrashing of Brentford away from home last weekend. They play Darlington at home this weekend but Edds was on the bench, coming on for the last four minutes - and his side snatched a late winner shortly after to take the points 1-0.

SCOTTISH PREMIER LEAGUE

SCOTT McDONALD (Celtic)
McDonald started upfront for the Bhoys last weekend despite pulling out of the Socceroos with a hamstring injury. Surprise, surprise... He played 72 minutes against Inverness and came off when Celtic were 5-0 up and his services were no longer required, although he was one of the few not to score for the Hoops but still peppered the Cally goal with his shots. He featured in their midweek Euro shocker against Shaktar and might have been hoping to erase that memory against Hibs away on Sunday. But although McDonald had several shots on goal, he couldn't score and he was rbought off after 67 minutes with the scores tied at 2-2. Hibs found a late winner though and it ended 3-2.

DANNY INVINCIBILE (Kilmarnock)
He was carrying an injury a fortnight ago and couldn't shake it off in time for the 2-1 away win against Gretna last weekend and he was missing from the squad for the 0-0 home draw with St Mirren this weekend.

ERIK PAARTALU (Gretna)
Erik made it into the line-up for the Kilmarnock game last week, but only as far as the bench. He came on for the second half but his side lost 2-1, despite Paartalu shaving the bar. They played host to Dundee United this weekend and Erik was a starter, playing the whole game. Gretna grabbed a late winner to edge it 3-2 for their first victory in the Premier League.

SCOTTISH FIRST DIVISION

SIMON STOREY (Partick Thistle)
He played the whole match as Partick made heavy weather of beating Berwick Rangers 3-1 in the Challenge Cup, but he got in one good shot on goal but it was straight at the keeper. They lost 2-1 St Johnstone last weekend and Storey played the whole game, but he only made the last 35 minutes of their midweek game, losing 2-1 to Ayr United in extra time and kicking them out of the Challenge Cup. They beat Queen Of The South 2-0 at home this weekend, Storey playing the whole game at left-back.

DUTCH EREDIVISIE

JASON CULINA (PSV Eindhoven)
After his Socceroo duties - and the chance to meet up with his dad Branko - it's back to the domestic grindstone with a match against Vitesse last weekend. Culina was missing from the PSV squad, presumably being rested and his side won 1-0. They faced Feyenoord at home on Sunday and Culina played the full 90 as they thumped the visitors 4-0, with Culina picking up a booking.

LUKE WILKSHIRE (FC Twente)
In last weekend's away match against Willem II, Wilkshire came off after just five minutes with an injury as his side went on to win 3-1. He bounced back from the injury though and played the whole match and scored his side's third goal in their 3-0 win against Brett Holman and NEC.

EDDY BOSNAR (Heracles)
Heracles struggling start to the season wasn't be helped by their home game with Ajax last weekend. Bosnar played for 79 minutes before being replaced, but his lost 1-0. They faced Sparta away and drew 1-1 with Bosnar coming off at half-time.

BRETT HOLMAN (NEC)
Holman played the whole game against NAC but couldn't find the back of the net and his side went down 1-0. They faced Luke Wilkshire's FC Twente this weekend and had a shocker, losing 3-0. Holman played the whole game.

ROMANIAN LIGA 1

WAYNE SRHOJ - JONATHAN McKAIN (FCU Politehnica Timisoara)
Timi beat Vaslui 2-1 at home last weekend, with Srhoj coming on for the last 15 minutes (and picking up a 92nd minute booking) while McKain stayed on the bench. They faced Mioveni away this weekend and drew 2-2 but it was an Aussie-free zone with neither even making the bench.

JOSH MITCHELL - JOSHUA ROSE - MICHAEL BAIRD - SPASE DILEVSKI (FC Universitatea Craiova)
The Aussie contingent were set to pad out the Craiova line-up when they lost 1-0 to UTA at home last weekend. All four started the game, but Dilevski picked up a yellow after 50 minutes and Baird was substituted two minutes later. They faced Vaslui on Sunday but lost 2-0.

NORWEGIAN PREMIER LEAGUE

SHANE STEFANUTTO (Lillestrom)
Stefanutto played the whole game at home against Tromso, but picked up as a booking as his side went down 3-0. They were beaten 3-1 away to Stabaek on Sunday and Shane was brought off at half-time.

KASEY WEHRMAN (Fredrikstad)
Wehrmnan didn't make the bench against SK Brann and they went down 4-0 at home last weekend. It's an away game against Valerenga on Monday this week.

SWISS SUPER LEAGUE

SCOTT CHIPPERFIELD (FC Basel)
Having missed the Asian Cup, Chipperfield skipped the Argentina game too. Could the end be in sight for Chippers' career? Dave Carney has staked an impressive claim to his place so it might not be the problem position for the Aussies it has in the past. His club thrashed Neuchatel Xamax 3-0 on Sunday and Scott played the whole game.

TURKISH SUPERLIG

MICHAEL PETKOVIC (Sivasspor)
Sivasspor took on Genclerbirligi OFTAS last weekend and Petkovic kept a clean sheet as Sivass emerged 1-0 winners. They faced Caykur Rizespor away on Sunday and Petko kept a clean sheet with his side winning 2-0.

NICKY CARLE (Genclerbirligi)
Carle cemented his place in the side after his Socceroos duties with a place in the starting line up for the home game against Manisaspor last Sunday, but came off after 50 minutes. His side lost 2-0. They travelled to play Konyaspor this weekend and drew 1-1 with Carle playing the whole game.

MILE STERJOVSKI (Genclerbirligi OFTAS)
He's made an impressive start, scoring on his debut for the reserve side of Carle's club. He wasn't in the Socceroos squad so he would have been rested and aiming to prove a point when the club took on Sivasspor last weekend, and came on for the second half, but his side went down 1-0. They played host to Gaziantepspor on Sunday and Sterj played the first 75 minutes as they lost 2-1.

JAPANESE J-LEAGUE DIVISION TWO

ALVIN CECCOLI (Avispa Fukuoka)
Alvin's side lost 2-0 Tokyo Verdy away last Sunday and Ceccoli played the whole match. He's been talking about his old club Sydney and hints at wanting to return to the A-League soon. They drew 3-3 with Ehime FC away on Sunday and Alvin played the full game.
