PIM Verbeek has called up forward Danny Invincibile to the Socceroos squad for tomorrow's international friendly against the Republic of Ireland in Limerick.
Born in Brisbane, Invincibile began his professional football career in 1997 with the Brisbane Strikers in the former National Soccer League before moving to the Marconi Stallions.
He moved overseas in 2000 to join Swindon Town in the English Second Division where he stayed for three seasons before moving north to Kilmarnock in Scotland where he has been since 2003 making 169 appearances and scoring 17 goals.
It is Invincibile's first call-up to the Socceroos squad, although he has previously been a standby player on a number of occasions.
"I just couldn't believe it when I got the call-up, it's been a bit surreal but I'm ecstatic about it - absolutely delighted," he told Scotland's Daily Record.
"I can't remember how many times I have been on standby for the squad - then nothing happened. But this time I've been called up so I'm really excited.
"I've spoken to the manager a couple of times and while there are no guarantees I will play, who knows what could happen?
"It's a new challenge and I've got to grab it. I'll be going there to enjoy it."
Invincibile has played for Australia at schoolboy and Under-20 level.
Wednesday's match will be the first for the Socceroos since completing their Asian group qualifiers for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in June.
