Away fans will be banned from matches between Ajax and Feyenoord for the next five years, it was announced this morning.
The decision is the result of a consultation between mayors Job Cohen, of Amsterdam, and Rotterdam's Ahmed Aboutaleb, plus board members of Ajax and Feyenoord and the Dutch Football Association, the KNVB.
It will be re-evaluated after two years, after which the duration of the ban might be reduced.
The decision was taken after several ugly incidents last week, involving both the first and reserve teams.
Despite warnings from the mayors and clubs, there still were cases of misbehaviour, violence and abusive chants by both sets of fans.
