Melbourne Victory's final hopes have been dashed, succumbing to a spirited Brisbane comeback courtesy of goals to Claire Polkinghorne and Celeste Boureille.
Victory took the lead through a powerful effort from former WNPL heavyweight Melina Ayres, but couldn't hold on against the W-League leaders, Brisbane striking twice in the second half to give Melissa Andreatta's side the win.

While Brisbane's usual stars had a quiet afternoon, it was down to captain courageous Polkinghorne to spark Roar to life with a thumping header, before American import Celeste Boureille broke her scoring duck to break Melbourne hearts.
