FFA Technical Director Rob Baan will coach the Socceroos for their upcoming friendly against Nigeria in London on November 17.
Baan steps in for outgoing coach Graham Arnold, who incidentally will be coaching the U23s against Iraq in a crucial Olympic qualifier at Bluetongue Stadium on the same day.
Nigeria, ranked 23 in the world, should provide a stern test for the Socceroos in their final game before the upcoming 2010 World Cup qualifiers, which commence February 6 next year.
"Nigeria are the number one ranked team in Africa and will provide a very competitive match for the Qantas Socceroos," said FFA CEO Ben Buckley. "It is vital that we give the team another match ahead of the World Cup qualifiers and we look forward to seeing Australia's national football team play against a high quality opponent."
The game will be played at Craven Cottage, the home of Fulham FC, and will be the third time the two countries have played each other, having previously faced off in the 1988 and 2000 Olympic Games.
