David Williams leads a contingent of five overseas-based players to be included in Rob Baan's U-23 squad.
Williams (Bronby), Neil Kilkenny (Birmingham City), Nick Ward (Queens Park Rangers and pictured right), Trent McClenahan (Hereford United) and Aaron Downes (Chesterfield) have been included in the final Group D qualifying match against Jordan to be played next week in Amman. Adrian Leijer and Ruben Zadkovich will also return from suspension.
“I have confidence in the ability of the squad of players we have assembled for this match and I’m happy to have back both Adrian Leijer and Ruben Zadkovich to bolster the defence,” said Baan.
The Olyroos need at least a draw to progress to the next stage of qualification. Australia are three points ahead of Iran, while Saudi Arabia have already qualified and Jordan are out of contention.
