The Socceroos have alreadfy qualified from their current group for the next stage of qualification for the Brazil 2014 World Cup.

As a result, Osieck has named a squad without most of the big name European stars like Tim Cahill or Brett Holman.

But Osieck insisted he was still going all out for a win on February 29 when Australia meet the Saudis at AAMI Park in Melbourne.

And he pointed to the return of Mark Bresciano for the first time since the 2010 World Cup as evidence, healing a rift with the attacking midfielder now playing in the Middle East.

"I had a chat with Bresciano and we could sort out a lot of things, stuff that I wasn't aware of and he probably wanted to explain to me," said Osieck.

"It was a very good conversation. He is ready again to play for us. He plays reguarly for his club. I decided to bring him in and not just listen and talk but to see what he provided for us.

"Now I think he is ready mentally to be back."

Bresciano's return will add experience to a squad combining out of form veterans like David Carney and Archie Thompson with debutantes like Erik Paartalu and Michael Marrone.

It also herald a return later for Vince Grella after he and Bresciano told Osieck they were taking time out from the national squad following the disappointing South Africa campaign.

"On the other hand we have to face one thing - we are still starting our long campaign to Brazil," said Osieck.

"Although I was quite happy with the progress we have made, we still need additional quality and Mark has been around the block quite a while. I still expect he can help our team.

"After a major tournament there is always a stage in the team where there are people with a number of issues within a team.

"Mark and Vince Grella said they needed a little bit of distance and didn't want to involved for the next couple of games."

Now though, Osieck believes he has been in the job long enough to knwo the way the Socceroo set up works best and who can offer what to the team.

"I started new and had to create my own impression and get my own picture," he said. "The way I did it, I think it was a good one. I have now a good idea about the players.

"I think I am in a different position and can make a distinction about who will be there and forget about the past., I am not a person who looks to the past. We are always looking to the future, we have to progress.

"The major challenge for me is that we have some new boys, even Bresciano who I haven't worked with, that I can get my ideas across, theĀ  style we want to play, that is my biggest challenge."

And he shrugged off questions about the direction of the squad and its make-up if they reach Brazil in 2014.

"What happens in another 2 1/2 years? In football that is an eternity," he said. "I have to focus on the current situation.

"You don't get measured by what happens in the future, you get measured on the spot. What happends after is a different story. What is on, is on, what is after, you deal with in the future."

He added: "We are here to win the game. Look at the core group of our squad - we have all the experience you could ask for.

"Have a look at some of the players in the list...They have a great pedigree and performance for Australia. We are definitely going to have a strong team.

"We are going out to win. We have an obligation to the people who buy tickets to support us. We have to give them something to support us for."
