Wright has been out of action for more than three months with a thigh injury. The Socceroo has yet to feature in the Championship this season.

But Wright is finally back in action and made his first appearance in City U23s' 3-2 loss at Colchester United.

The defender started and played for 60 minutes in the Monday fixture before being substituted.

Wright told FTBL it has been a frustrating spell on the sidelines.

"It's been a long journey to get back fit but I'm feeling good now," he said. "It's been a long time so it was nice to come through that and feel good.

"It's been a frustrating few months for me, but I've learnt a lot from it and thanks to some good people aroundme who have worked me hard and looked after me, I've got myself in the best shape I've been in for a while.

"So that for me is a big positive after missing so much football."

Assistant coach Alex Ball said the 26-year-old “did well".

“He looked comfortable, was pleased with himself to be back playing too and he was great to have around this young team,” Ball said.

“He’s helpful to have around these players and he added quality.”
