BARCELONA president Joan Laporta is confident Rafael Marquez will renew his contract before the new year.
Marquez has been a mainstay in the Barca back-four for six years, although his past two seasons have been plagued by injuries.
The 30-year-old, whose contract expires next year, was linked with a move to Fiorentina in the summer but Laporta insists they want to keep the Mexico defender at the Nou Camp.
Laporta said: "We are waiting for the renewal and I am confident that we can sort this situation out before the year finishes and that Rafa will stay for many years at Barca."
