But he insists the Catalan giants will be doing all they can to shatter that 100% record when the sides meet in a pre-season friendly at Tannadice on Thursday.

United defeated Barcelona home and away in the Fairs Cup back in season 1966/67, before repeating the same feat in the UEFA Cup 20 years later.

But, speaking at their base at St Andrews ahead of a summer tour which also sees Barca take on Hearts this week, Iniesta outlined the importance of starting as they mean to go on and that means securing victory over their Scottish hosts.

"We don't know much about these teams," he admitted. "We have some general information but we don't really know about the individual players.

"I am sure we will be informed by the coach before the games.

"Even though this is a pre-season match, we take it very seriously because this will show us how to win.

"The main objective is to get prepared for the new season, which will be a really demanding one for us.

"It's important to have a good pre-season and have strength for the new season. Our only aim is to win."

Having lost out to Real Madrid in La Liga, as well as failing to triumph in the Champions League last season, Iniesta is well aware the pressure is on in the campaign ahead.

But he believes new recruits - such as former Arsenal star Thierry Henry - can make all the difference to their hopes of success this time around.

He said: "After one year without titles, there will be pressure on us. But the pressure is always there. It's a challenge.

"The new signings will be important and will bring new things to the club."

And Iniesta insists he will also be there to play his part despite being linked with a £40.25million move to Real Madrid.

Having previously failed to command a first-team place at the Nou Camp, the Spain international believes he finally made the breakthrough last term and insists he is going nowhere.

He said: "Last season was very important on a personal level, I was very satisfied but I want to improve.

"My only interest is to play for Barcelona - I want to stay at the club for a long time."
