The midfielder, who is on loan at Marseille from QPR, believes he is able to play for many seasons yet, but is confident that he could be a success in the dug-out.
 
Barton was allowed to leave Loftus Road in the summer, following an incredible on-pitch outburst on the final day of last season at Manchester City which resulted in a 12-game suspension.
 
The 30-year-old has professed his desire to remain in southern France next season, even claiming this week he would be happy to retire at the Stade Velodrome.
 
But Barton is also eyeing a career after his playing days and believes management would suit his personality perfectly.
 
He tweeted: "Yes, for those of you asking I will almost certainly manage when I stop playing. Reckon I've got about 8/9 years left at the top!
 
"Football is a simple game complicated by fools and people stealing livings.
 
"To be a top manager you need brains and balls. I have both in abundance. Watch this space."
