SCOTT Chipperfield's FC Basel side claimed the Swiss Super League title by beating Young Boys 2-0 in a championship showdown at St Jakob's Park.
Basle started the game with just a one-point advantage over their opponents at the top of the table, but made sure of the silverware with early goals from Valentin Stocker and Marco Streller.
Third-placed FC Zurich finished the campaign with a draw as relegated FC Thun bade farewell to the league with a point, holding the visitors to a 1-1 draw. Thun took the lead through Andres Gerber in the 50th minute before Emra Tahirovic levelled the scores 20 minutes from time.
Grasshoppers finished with a 2-0 win over Sion to claim fourth-place over Aarau, who were held to a 0-0 draw away to St Gallen. Raul Marcelo Bobadilla and Rinaldo Cruzado got the goals for Grasshoppers.
Saturday's other game saw Neuchatel Xamax win 2-0 away at Lucerne, with Brown Ideye and Julio-Hernan Rossi getting the goals.
