The Bavarians made it to the final of the Champions League last season, and progressed to the knockout stages of the competition without any noteworthy problems this campaign.

And Muller is optimistic about his side's chances heading into the latter stages of the current competition.

"There aren't many teams in Europe we have to look up to. And we've already proved that," Mueller said.

The attacker then went on to discuss Bayern's strength in depth and stressed that the stiff competition for places can only benefit the team.

"There's competition because we have so many extremely good players," he said.

"And with Arjen (Robben) and Luiz (Gustavo) coming back now, the coach has a huge range of options and can vary his line-up. That's a positive for the whole team.

"We have to get away from individuals only looking at themselves. We'll win trophies as a team."

Bayern are currently preparing to resume Bundesliga duties at home to Greuther Furth on January 19.
