Bayern Munich tore Freiburg apart in an embarrassingly one-sided encounter at the Allianz Arena which ended 7-0 to the hosts and Bundesliga league leaders.

Mario Gomez scored four and Franck Ribery was on target twice as Jupp Heynckes' side warmed up in style for their first Champions League group stage fixture against Villarreal on Tuesday.

Nils Petersen's first goal in the Bundesliga completed the demolition job in the last minute.

Freiburg managed only two attacks in the entire match as their game plan to defend and frustrate Bayern failed miserably.

The rout began early with Gomez scoring his fifth goal of the season after just seven minutes. Thomas Muller threaded a ball through to Toni Kroos, who unselfishly squared for Gomez to tap into the empty net.

Bastian Schweinsteiger could have made it two in the 16th minute when he only had Oliver Baumann to beat from Luiz Gustavo's cross, but he shot straight at the Freiburg goalkeeper.

It was not long before the second goal did arrive, and although Ribery initially got the ball trapped between his legs, he kept his composure to backheel it in from six yards.

The Frenchman then added the third with even more magic in the 41st minute. He controlled the ball perfectly, nudged it past the last remaining Freiburg defender and then placed his shot into the bottom corner.

There was no respite in the second half either as Bayern kept on attacking and added a fourth in the 52nd minute.

Ribery and Gomez both beat the offside trap and the Frenchman opted against trying to score his hat-trick and instead squared to Gomez, who netted his second simple goal of the afternoon from six yards.

Three minutes later, Gomez completed his second hat-trick in as many games when Freiburg defender Oliver Barth kicked the ball against the Bayern forward's knee and the ball looped up over Baumann and in.

The Germany striker was almost embarrassed by the way he had scored his seventh Bundesliga goal of the season, yet he was to have the ball in the back of the net again twice before the final whistle.

However, only one of them counted. He was ordered to retake the penalty that he scored in the 71st minute after Muller had been fouled by Garra Dembele, but he made no mistake with the second spot-kick to make it four for him and six for Bayern.

Substitute Petersen then completed the scoring with the last kick of the game, putting Schweinsteiger's cross in from point-blank range.
