Aston Villa forward Emile Heskey had given Fabio Capello's side an early lead, only to then go off injured, followed by his replacement Carlton Cole.

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney headed in a cross from Beckham, who came on after half-time, to make it 2-0 on 70 minutes - with Frank Lampard adding a third and Rooney a fourth in stoppage time as England warmed up in style for next Wednesday's World Cup qualifier against Ukraine.

Wayne Rooney admitted injuries to Heskey, Peter Crouch and Cole took the gloss off the result.

Heskey opened the scoring before limping off - and his two replacements, Cole and Crouch, also went off injured at Wembley.

Crouch should be fit for Wednesday's World Cup qualifier with Ukraine. But Cole is out, and Heskey will undergo a scan to determine the extent of his problem.

Rooney said: "We played very well. The first half-hour was excellent, and we should have scored a few more goals.

"Overall, it was a good performance and a well-deserved win.

"It's a bit sad we got the injuries early on, but it was a good build-up for us."

Capello added: "We played very well with lots of chances to score goals.

"Slovakia had two chances, and (David) James made two fantastic saves. I'm happy because we played very well and we won here with fantastic support.

"I'm very happy and I hope against Ukraine we will be better."
