Football Federation Australia said on Friday that Beckham's management approached them about moving to the A-League, most likely on a 10-game guest stint.

However, a spokesman for the former England captain denied those reports on television and Beckham rubbished the rumours after training on Friday.

"No. Definitely not true," he told reporters at the Home Depot Center.

"Bruce (Arena) told me that this morning – the first I'd heard about it. Like I said that's the first I'd heard of that, this morning."

Arena, who was present at the press conference, jokingly added: "We've booked his tickets already."

Speculation in Australia grew on Friday with several reports Beckham was set to make the move to Australia, where Italian star Alessandro Del Piero and English striker Emile Heskey ply their trades.
