David Beckham has been suspended for one match and fined for his behaviour after Los Angeles Galaxy's defeat to San Jose on June 30.
Former Manchester United and Real Madrid star Beckham threw the ball at a San Jose player and was involved in a scuffle with opposition players following his team's 4-3 defeat.
"The committee considered his conduct unacceptable and detrimental to the league's public image," an MLS statement read.
"Beckham will serve his suspension on Sunday when the Galaxy take on the Chicago Fire at Toyota Park."
Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena was also fined for his criticism of referees after the match.
The suspension capped off a bad week for former England captain Beckham, who was surprisingly left out of the Great Britain's squad for the London Olympic Games.
