Feyenoord's new caretaker manager Leo Beenhakker will only be paid if he guides the Rotterdam-based club to UEFA Cup qualification.
The 64-year-old Polish coach, who guided the Dutch side to their last Eredivisie title in 1999 and has been linked to manage the Socceroos, was appointed temporary coach at the De Kuip stadium for the UEFA Cup play-offs following the resignation of Erwin Koeman.
"It isn't about money, it's about my feeling," Beenhakker said on Monday. "I must do this for Feyenoord.
"If I did not believe in a positive outcome I would not have started here. I would have stayed at home. Although it is quite fun to look at De Kuip from the inside again."
And if Feyenoord do not beat FC Groningen in their play-off semi-final, Beenhaker said: "Then I don't even want a refund for my petrol tickets."
"Leo knows that Feyenoord isn't the richest club in Holland, far from it." Feyenoord's financial director Onno Jacobs added.
