Rumours on several Belgian media forums, including brugestalk.wordpress.com suggest that the Newcastle Jets captain is wanted by the club for next season's campaign.

His international performances are putting him firmly in the shop window as he looks for a fresh club challenge.

North has expressed a desire to try his luck overseas and if the Brugge move was to come to fruition then he would be following in the footsteps of former Socceroos boss Frank Farina and ex Australian international Paul Okon.

Both played for the club during their respective careers.

The defender is still under contract at Newcastle Jets but boss Gary van Egmond has made it clear he would not stand in the way of a player looking to further his career.

He told au.fourfourtwo.com recently: “Jade has said he wants to look overseas. To be honest I welcome players with ambition. If you don’t have ambition in football then what does that say about your mental strength?

“I don’t see anything derogatory in what he’s said at all. All I know is that while he is the captain of Newcastle he will lead by example and give 100 per cent to the cause.”
