Promising Adelaide United youngster Ben Warland has departed the club to pursue “another opportunity”.
The 21-year-old made his Reds debut at 18 and went on to make 14 appearances for the club, including two Asian Champions League matches.
Adelaide United General Manager of Football, Ante Kovacevic, said: “We are disappointed to see Ben leave the Club, but respect his decision.
“At the moment we have a squad with good defensive depth.
“We continue to work on attacking additions and, in reality, the transfer window’s deadline is somewhat irrelevant to us, because we are still able to bring players into the Club if they are classified as free agents prior to the deadline.”
Warland’s loss adds to a day of departures in the A-League, with Kwabena Appiah leaving the Mariners for an unnamed K-League side, and veteran Ali Abbas mutually terminating his contract with Wellington Phoenix.
Abbas made 136 appearances across eight A-League seasons and won several caps for the Iraq national team.
“I’ve enjoyed my time in Wellington,” said Abbas, “and I wish the club the best in their push to make the finals this season. I’d like to thank all the fans and the players for the support they’ve shown me.”
