EXCLUSIVE: Dubbed Frankenstein by his team, Mile Jedinak is thrilled the blood and stitches haven't scared off Pim Verbeek.
Jedinak's recent form for Central Coast Mariners has secured another call up for Socceroos duty and he is joined in the squad by Alex Wilkinson and Matt Simon.
Last week's win over Perth Glory ended painfully for Jedinak however after a clash of heads with James Robinson left him needing nine stitches.
He told au.fourfourtwo.com today: "There was a fair bit of blood and straight after there was a big bump which led to the boys making jokes about Frankenstein. Thankfully it's gone down a lot now and hopefully the stitches can come out after the weekend.
"I'm very pleased to be in the (Socceroos) squad and I'm just as happy that Matty Simon and Alex Wilkinson are in there too.
"I think it's just reward for the performances they've been putting in and we're all looking forward to going into camp.
"I really enjoyed being part of the set up during June, we had some good results and you want that to continue."
Jedinak's recent spate of thumping goals, especially from free-kicks, has caught the eye and after his head injury, coach Lawrie McKinna joked: "Not so much Bend It Like Beckham, more like Bend It Like Frankenstein."
Before he can think about international football though, Jedinak will focus on the challenge of Adelaide United on Friday night.
He said: "They'll still be on a high with the Champions League thing and you know you're always in for a tough game over there."
