Bendtner was handed the penalty on Monday after revealing 'Paddy Power' branded underwear while celebrating his second goal during Denmark's 3-2 loss to Portugal in Lviv on June 13.

"This suspension applies to the next 2014 FIFA World Cup match, including the qualifying competition, for which Bendtner is eligible," UEFA said in a statement.

Denmark host the Czech Republic in their next World Cup qualifier on September 8.

Bendnter, who spent last season on loan at Sunderland from Arsenal, has three days to appeal the sanction.

Article 18.18 of the 'Regulations of the UEFA European Football Championship' states: "All kit items worn during the final tournament must be free of any sponsor advertising."

The name of the online betting firm was clearly visible on the waistband of Bendtner's green and white underwear.

"It is just a pair of lucky boxer shorts that I used in the first game as well and have used before the tournament," Bendtner said when questioned at the time.

"I didn't know I was breaking any rules but I am aware of that now."

Denmark were eliminated from Euro 2012 with just one win from their three group matches.
