Rafael Benitez believes that Napoli can break the stranglehold that Juventus have on Serie A this season.
The Naples outfit finished second last term as Juventus claimed back-to-back league titles under the stewardship of Antonio Conte.
But Benitez, who replaced Walter Mazzarri at the Stadio San Paolo, is aiming to be among the leading pack to challenge their recent dominance.
"Juventus are a strong team but there are other teams who can compete for the title," the 53-year-old said.
"And our goal is to be among them
"My desire is to work hard, to win with this team and make the fans happy."
The Spaniard would not be drawn on the future of striker Edinson Cavani, who has been strongly tipped to join Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, adding: "I have spoken with Cavani, but I am focused on my job.
"If he stays with us, we'll meet again on July 21."
